Pick up general travel guides and maps at the information center or take the self-guided ¾-mile hiking trail to a 19th-century-reconstructed farmstead.
Nice displays in welcome center. Clean restrooms. Quaint gift ship. Awesome exhibits of farm. Friendly staff. Short hiking trails with spectacular views.

Went there for a special "crepes" event and taste of wine. Service was terrible. Had to wait a while to give our order for drinks and same for food. Finally got our wine, but only one of two. We had to wait 15min for the second wine after 3 reminders. For the food, we waited 40min and other tables got served before is although they arrive later.
The quality of the food was bad. The be on and cheese crepe was only fat and no meet. And all four crepes we had were cold.
We gave up and left with no desert.
We'll definitively not recommend as there many other wineries that are better worth.

Located on the famed beverage corridor along Rt. 151 in Nelson County, the flagship Bold Rock Cider Barn opened in August 2014 and represents our company headquarters, center of operations and primary cider production facility. The ‘Chapel of Apple’ as it is affectionately known is a beautifully rustic timber framed barn overlooking the Rockfish River. Our staff will be happy to explain the process behind our award-winning craft hard cider and following a tasting, enjoy a pint, flight or delicious food from our Feed Room. The Nellysford Cider Barn is open daily at 11 AM.
The location is beautiful with great scenery. Small hike from the parking lot to the venue (complete with the 801 ft sign)! Free tasting of the two seasonal ciders. You can purchase 4 pack samplers and glasses of cider. I chose the sampler with the seasonal cider option. Would have rated this venue a 5 if the two staff members I encountered had not acted like being there was dreadful! Otherwise the visit was great and we even purchased cider to go in their shop!

We were on our way home to Ohio from a weekend away in Virginia. While out I had tried and really enjoyed the Vienna Lager. When I saw the sign on the highway saying the brewery was on the next exit I decided to stop. We got there right as they opened. We tried a sample of eight different beers. I was pleasantly surprised to find i liked most of them. I'm a firm believer that craft beer doesnt mean good beer. This was good beer. Although a couple were not for me.
We liked it so much we also purchased.some swag along with a couple six packs. This is where the disappointment came...after arivimg back home i found they gave me the wrong size T shirt.
Serioudly check it out and enjoy...just check the shirt size before you go.

Virginia Distillery Co. is an authentic single malt whisky distillery in Central Virginia entering the growing spirits industry across the U.S. Virginia Distillery Company is home to "The Virginia Whisky Experience", currently offering tastings of our Virginia Highland Malt and seasonally inspired cocktails, and soon to offer an educational museum and video, as well as tours of the production facility (June 2016).
We came across this distillery while visiting wineries and we were glad we did. The venue is less than two years old and absolutely stunning. Unfortunately we arrived too late for a tour, but are planning on returning ASAP, just to enjoy everything yet again! We're so delighted to hear that you enjoyed your visit to our distillery. Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

Located on the Nelson 151 Trail, Hill Top Berry Farm and Winery is nestled in the rolling hills of the Rockfish River Valley. Mountain views abound in every direction and the farm is beautiful and well maintained. Hill Top offers a unique wine tasting experience with True to the Fruit Wines and Authentic Honey Meads. Established in the 1990's, Hill Top is a second generation family business.
My husband and I were just making up our long weekend getaway as we went...no plans. I like wineries that include sweet wine options and Hill Top came highly recommended from the Charlottesville Tourism Information Center (Carla & Jon). They were right! Beautiful setting on the farm next to the Blackberry Patch. We were lucky to be there on the day of the annual festival so there was live music by Dragonfly, one of the best bands we've heard!!!! Many great wine and mead selections, plus on this day, great artisans and food options. Top-notch sangria. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect day.

We had a 3 bedroom condo my wife and I and our 2 adult kids with their families. Although just a bit dated, overall a very nice place and very convenient. Fabulous, scenic and adventurous hiking trails with loops and trails of varying distances available. Indoor and outdoor pool are very nice, and we even went to the lake on afternoon. No shortage of things to do and great staff. We even did the zip line and plunge (summer tube ride). Just great fun.

This is by far my favorite overlook along the whole Blue Ridge Parkway. At various times of the year, and depending on the weather, you'll find recreational rock climbers working on the various routes up the steep cliffs below the overlook, rescue teams doing high angle rescue training, sightseers, and even the occasional group of hang glider pilots launching from the cliffs. There are trails from the parking area leading out onto the rocks, but be cautious. There are very high dropoffs here and people have made very costly mistakes by wandering out too far. If there are climbers out, don't step on the ropes and don't get beneath them. There's a winding trail to the left of the parking area that's very steep but will get you to the base of the cliffs. The view of the valley from here is tremendous! You can even see rockslide scars made when Hurricane Camille came through the area in 1969. Beautiful scenery. It's a great spot for a picnic or even a quick photo opportunity.

They only make 4 liquors but they are amazing. A new company but multiple award wining spirits. I bought a bottle of Honey Rye Whiskey. Made with local honey. Thanks for the review, Rusty! :)

Year round recreation area located in the Blue Ridge offers a wide variety of outdoor recreation, from golf and tennis in the summer, to skiing and snowboarding in the winter.
We just moved to Virginia from the California Coast two years ago and never heard of Wintergreen Ski Area. We own a national business (Styer Landscaping) and our key materials supplier (SiteOne Landscape Supply) invited us to a four day three night retreat at Wintergreen. We figured why not check it out.
WOW were we in for one of the greatest trips in our lives!!! Our eight year old son had never been on skis (California Coast, remember). He wanted to try it out.
EVERYONE was so friendly, courteous, full of information and just great people that we were excited from the beginning. There were a LOT of kids there but every person made our child feel special and part of the group.
Our son wound up learning how to ski, turn, stop three different ways AND jump!!! He now has another wonderful activity in which to participate.
My wife and I tried out the tubing...what THRILL!!! She also went skiing and has a blast.
The accommodations were fabulous...incredible views, wood-burning fireplace...LOTS of room.
The restaurants were incredible...the food was superb, expertly prepared and lots of it too.
The BEST part??? The staff. I mean EVERYONE we encountered really made our stay memorable and special. EVERY ONE of our requests was granted immediately. Everyone was SO attentive.
Now that we know about Wintergreen Ski Area we WILL be back...a LOT. AND, we will be back in the Spring, Summer and Fall to check out the hiking and other activities offered.
This resort is less than a two hour EASY drive from Richmond and a complete getaway.. We now have a favorite place in Virginia...we had no idea this would be SO enjoyable...WOW!!!
Try it out, everyone, it's a wonderful place for a family to visit or just a single person or a couple or a group.
Rest assured you will be glad you tried this gem out!!!
