Nicknamed the "Little Smokies" because of the area's resemblance to the Great Smoky Mountains, Brown County encompasses nearly 16,000 acres of rugged hills, ridges and fog-shrouded ravines. Glaciers from the most recent ice ages stopped short of the "hills o' Brown," but their meltwaters helped create the narrow ridges, steep slopes and deep gullies of Brown County State Park. Indiana's largest park is a traditional fall color hot spot, with nearly 20 miles of tree-lined roads and many scenic vistas overlooking miles of uninterrupted forestland.
Spent a very enjoyable day hiking. The weather was crisp and clear, the trails were well-marked, and the DNR personable and knowledgeable. The birds were plentiful and happy with the Spring-like day. There weren’t many visitors at the park until after lunchtime.

I just tried Brown County Winery's Blackberry Wine. It is good. The smell and first taste (sorry, no professional wine connoisseur here :)). are sweet blackberry and the finish taste is almost citrus which cuts the sweetness. Nice! By the way, I have not visited the winery. I've only tasted this wine. It has made me want to visit the winery for tastings, though.

We make handcrafted artisan spirits using 100% Indiana grains. Come take our "Farm-to-Fifth" Tour, sample our spirits, try a Moonshine Shake-up Cocktail and shop our Indiana Made Gift Shop for unique gift items. Open seven day a week.
We found this tour informative, unique, educational, fun and downright enjoyable. We showed up unannounced via the website tour info and got the owner's husband. He clearly enjoys the distillery business and was not only extremely well informed, but answered all our questions. We learned a lot. Tasting afterward. No pressure to buy but of course, it's there if you want. I have shared this info with several other people since, and one attended a major distillery tour in KY, and did not hear as much info. We highly recommend this tour. Highly. Good to attend, even if you do not drink their products, or don't drink at all. Good historical anecdotes about moonshine running days of America, and how the standards of distilling evolved. It was more about the process, the science and the art of distilling, than drinking. They also sell Indiana maple syrup.

Home and studio of T.C. Steele.
T.C. Steele State Historic Site holds a special place in my heart forever. This is the location that my husband and I decided to hold our wedding at and it was absolutely perfect! Very affordable location, incredibly natural and beautiful for photos, and a lovely vibe for those who want a wedding outdoors. We had a Pastor marry us, we had about 120 guests, and were married outside of T.C. Steele's home on the Historic Site. It was a perfect location for us, but the gardens down the hill are also a popular place for weddings. I would definitely recommend this location to all those who visit Nashville, IN. It embraces the rustic and unique vibes that Nashville displays and is a bit off the beaten path, which makes it a hidden gem around this area. We picnicked here a couple days before our wedding; it's a great place to explore and experience as a family/couple. The Friends of T.C. Steele have done a great job at keeping the natural beauty of this site alive and managing the buildings for great upkeep!

Brown County Playhouse has a diverse array of programming - live music, special events, plays, an movies. Check the website for the latest on what is happening at the Playhouse.
You can choose from a play to a movie it's what ever you choose, then you can easily walk to any restaurant you also choose!!!
The wife and I picked Out of the Ordinary restaurant right across the street from the playhouse!!!
The playhouse might not have all of the fancy things that the big city has but the wife and I feel that's what makes it so great!!!

Came here and camped 50 years ago with my boy scout group. When I cam back here 50yearrs later it seems that time has stood still here. Love this place for hiking and it is so much less crowded than other parks. A little primitive but lots to do here. A great way to spend the day.

This is one of the oldest and most long established businesses on Little Nashville's main street - on the opposite side and a block south of the Courthouse.
When you walk in, you're assailed by the smell of freshly roasted nuts - need I say more? Although cashews are their stock in trade, they offer a variety of other fresh nuts as well.
Pricey they are, but I'll still bet the bag is empty before you reach Courthouse Square.
This is a "must stop" place in Little Nashville.

It was a rainy day, and we found a real gem in Brown County. The Brown County Art Gallery had a large Brown County artist permanent collection, videos, and current members’ work. There are several rooms of artwork, and each is worthy of your time. It is free, but I am sure that your donation will be appreciated. Do not miss this treasure of Brown County art and art history.

This is a nice trail which winds along the banks of a portion of Salt Creek on the edge of Nashville. You will walk under huge trees which canopy the trail. Very nice.

I appreciated the collection both upstairs and downstairs of current members and some of the founding members from Brown County’s rich art history. I love visiting the Guild and look forward to visiting every time that I am in the area. Support and enjoy the artists that share their work as members of the Brown County Art Guild.
