We had an awesome time! I went with my husband and some friends to do the 5:00 pm tour. It was really interesting to learn about how the owners started the business and all the chemistry behind the making of the delicious rum! I give them 5 stars for presentation, content, and rum tasting! Would highly recommend a visit to this local gem and for any local or tourists looking for a fun activity in the area! The owners are amazing people with a passion for the business!

This was our first visit since Reverend Billy Graham passed away. My son and I wanted to stop and pay respects and see the gravesite. I have to say it is very beautiful. The walkway t the gravesite is on a side walk which forms...MoreThank you so much for your kind review of the Library and your gracious recommendation. My first visit to the Schiele Museum provided a most pleasant surprise. The museum, although small, is packed with interesting exhibits that are beautifully presented and well documented. The dinosaur exhibit featured smaller species, and the models appeared to be realistic and set in suitable habitats. The animals were obviously made by excellent taxidermists and were also set in realistic, interesting habitats. Native American objects and models were respectful of their cultures and good teaching tools. Because it was pouring rain, we were not able to explore the trail and outside exhibits, but we'll go back for those. Also, our tour group was limited in time, so we did not see the planetarium show, another reason to return.

Talk a Walk on the Wild Side at Carolina Raptor Center What will you find on your walk around the 3/4 mile Raptor Trail? Over 30 species of raptors and other birds of prey are featured on this walk on the wild side. Owls and Vultures. Hawks and Eagles. Falcons, Corvids and other species that just don't fall into any of these categories. Have you seen a Bald Eagle up close? The Raptor Trail features a nesting pair of Bald Eagles who live out back in the Eagle Aviary. Our Spectacled Owl just can't wait to tell you what she thinks about living here at CRC, but you might have to listen carefully to what she has to say - she's a shy one. Did you know that Vultures and Corvids are some of the smartest birds around. No bird brains here! Lots of human mythology surrounds both of these families of avian brainiacs. Crows have been known to drop nuts into crosswalks so that cars can crack them and then wait for the light to change and retrieve the goodies! Behind the scenes at CRC is our Raptor Hospital, where we see approximately 900 raptor patients a year (please no songbirds or possums!). If you can't make our behind the scenes tour, don't worry, the exhibit "A Day in the Life of a Raptor Hospital" will show you what goes on there - day and night.
We spent a pleasant time visiting all the raptors in the park, most if not all of whom had been rescued in the wild after injury, and were unable to be released back into the wild due to being unable to survive there. There is...MoreThanks for coming to visit the raptors! We hope to see you again soon! Drop by for a summer flight show starting Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day weekend.

Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden, the Carolinas’ Garden for All Seasons, provides guests a chance to reconnect with nature. Located within 380 acres on the banks of Lake Wylie, spectacular gardens, sparkling fountains, a conservatory dedicated to the display of tropical plants and orchids, a visitor pavilion, gift shop and nature walk await the visitor. HGTV named it one of the nation’s “20 Great Gardens” and USA TODAY says the Garden is one of the nation’s best places to “welcome fall with a flourish.” Committed to horticultural excellence, Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden is a must-see for all ages.
Wonderful holiday outing between Christmas and New Years with the family (grandparent, young kids). Excellent size (not overwhelming). Friendly staff. Fun "passport" stations for kids. Trains in orchid building particularly magical (seasonal display). We live in Roanoke, VA, and currently have an annual membership we're enjoying despite the drive. Sincerely doing a good job attracting new audiences.

We have restored thousands of rare photos of cotton mills & their way of life, towns, churches, schools, and trollies, just to mention a few. All of these photos and a number of regional historical artifacts are on display as well. We are located directly across from the Belmont Historical Society. Hours: Mon-Sat: 10:00 am-5:00 pm
I spent my childhood in Gastonia and thought I was, fairly, knowledgeable about the history of the area. After visiting Allen Milligan's Pictorial History Museum, I realized I knew hardly anything of area.
Allen adds, greatly, to the museum experience with his vast knowledge of Gaston and surrounding counties. His passion and energy will amaze you. Listening to Allen tell stories describing the photos is almost hypnotic.
The photographs he has collected and processed is unimaginable. Thousands8 are categorized by area and subject makes for easy viewing and can be purchased.
The museum is housed in a quaint old house on Catawba Ave in Belmont. If you have trouble finding it, anyone in Belmont can give directions.
The museum is free to all and you can make donations if you desire.

This is a fabulous little one street town. Such character and so pleasant to visit! Several delicious restaurants, ice cream parlors, coffee shops, a yoga studio, a day spa, outdoor eating venues, a rooftop bar with nightly music, a beautiful downtown park. I truly enjoyed my visit, and the best thing was my friends' condo was within walking distance, so we enjoyed every evening in Belmont.

Plan to spend several hours perusing the endless variety of collectibles and antiques! The aisles are open for ease in "window shopping". Everything is presented nicely and priced reasonably...we took two trips to the car with our treasures!

This plantation is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
During it's time, it would have been considered almost a mansion. The man of the house traveled and was gone for months, and his wife and several children lived in the house. Times were hard, but they managed. The place has a lot of history, and that is why it is on display and making money to have a tour. A lot of land, and a lot of activity goes on to draw crowds and make money. Lot of horse back riding in and around the planation..
