Museum dedicated to informing visitors about the fatal fire and tornado that claimed the lives of more than 400 people in Hinckley, Minn.
We visited the Hinkley fire museum and found that the facility, descriptive video, and exhibits transported us in our imagination back in time to what must have been a panic filled community suffering through an unimaginable tragedy. The building condition has been preserved in its original state exceptionally well. Anyone who is in the least bit interested in history must see this museum.

Step into a reconstructed fur post from the winter of 1804. Meet a French voyageur, a British fur trade clerk and visit an Ojibwe encampment. The visitor center houses an expansive exhibit gallery with a 24-foot birch canoe, a 30-foot tall stone fireplace and a gift shop. Open Memorial Day through the end of September. The Snake River heritage trails are open year round for hiking, snowshoeing and skiing. The site reopens for its season May 25, 2018.
We found the annual Mystery at the Fur Post event online and traveled from NE to attend. The event did not disappoint. It was very budget friendly and they had thought of everything. We talked to actors who were wearing authentic clothing and followed clues...MoreThank you for the kind words.

Father Hennepin State Park is located just a few minutes from Hunter Winfield's in Isle. It has a nice beach. The grounds are well-maintained. It is very peaceful and good for taking a walk or biking. We were there early in the season and during the week, so it wasn't crowded.

I went skydiving with my family here yesterday. As a party of six, it took 3.5 hours for us to complete our skydive. The organization is located at Milaca Airport. There is clear signage and directions, so we had no problem finding the place. The service was very friendly and everything was clearly explained to us. We started by filling out paperwork, including getting to choose four songs to accompany our video of the skydive (note: pictures and video cost extra.) As this organization is smaller, we had to go in groups of two to skydive as that is all the plane could accomodate. This caused a lot of downtime between jumps. The advantage of this was that we got to see each pair of family members come down from the air rather than all going at once. The pilot would radio down when there was two minutes to the jump and then the rest of us were able to make the short walk (2 min.) to the landing spot. They did not mind us taking our own video and pictures. The best part of the experience was being able to interact with the staff. The instructors were very, very friendly. They made everyone in my party feel relaxed and excited for the jump. They were very experienced (my pilot had over 4,000 jumps under his belt) and was very patient with me. I felt very confident that they would be able to handle any complication that might arise. At the end, you receive a "First Jump" Certificate which was a nice touch. Things to be aware of and to consider: book a flight for early morning so that it can be rescheduled sooner in case of bad wind conditions. Know that they they strictly enforced the 235 lb. weight limit due to safety issues, also they have several indoor dogs in the office area as a caution to those with allergies. Finally, the one annoying part of the experience was that we had to re-land the airplane once because the camera was out of battery and then take-off again. Also, one of the pilots filmed my dad's landing with the lens cap on the video camera.

We went to this theater in Jan. and I was cold, my nose was even cold, I wore my light mittens, I should of brought a blanket. The popcorn was good at first then towards the bottom not so good. The movie was very good.

Chucker's Bowl & Lounge is a modern 16 lane bowling alley and entertainment center conveniently located an hour north of the Twin Cities between Highway 35 and Old HWY 61. Chucker's offers a clean, fun and inviting environment including a game room, a full bar and delicious menu offerings. If you need a bigger, private venue, The Spare Room at Chucker's Bowl is the place for you.
Did not like that the bowling price was double than its competitor's (JJs) bowl 10 miles south and to mention the food they have to offer is frozen a baked in a very small appliance-style pizza oven.

The Grand Casino.. Not us. Used to be a fun place and had value with a great Buffet!
That is gone. My Wife and Me went to celebrate our Anniversary at the casino and had not been there in a few years...Boy what a Change!.
Buffet is a joke!!! 20.00 a person and they ask for a tip up front while you pay before you even get inside the area to eat! Food Was Unacceptable, Service was Not Existent! We would have been better stopping at McDonalds.
All the machines are set for full profit of the Casino..no chance for the player. No Nickle Slots ... all Penney slots for the most part. Almost all new machines have multiple lines any were from 30 to perhaps 120 lines per bet. With Penny Machines its very easy to pay up to a dollar on a bet and if you win ... you come out with less then your original bet. Also we could not find any information on how the lines ran on these machines!!! Or it is hard to find.
Bottom line we used to play with about 200.00 for the night and play for many hours and eat and still walk out with a few buck's in our pocket!!! Those days are gone at this Casino. We spent almost 500.00 and left with such a disappointment and a ripped off feeling covered with a the nasty smell of smoke on our Persons. Do not waste your time. Go have a nice dinner see a show or Concert...but not at Grand Casino Hinckley.

Great little music shop in downtown Cambridge. Decent selection of deals and if your looking for something specific, the owner will order it for you. Plus they have an awesome coffee selection. Worth checking out if your in town.

You can tell this is a local's hangout when you walk in the door. Friendly atmosphere, decent prices, casual surroundings, and no head-banging music, thankfully. Food was really good, though my co-diner complained that the au jus with his French dip was watery, and it was. I had the Reuben, very tasty. Large portions, reasonable prices. I'd definitely recommend.

We entered through a grapevine covered trellis and were greeted by a sweet dog. The owners were friendly and very personable. We just came for a tasting and ended up spending a fun afternoon talking with our new old friends. It was very interesting to see this farm powered by wind and solar. Our favorite wines were the strawberry , raspberry, and cinnamon apple wines. We also purchased the homemade maple syrup.
