(pre kids) we went to Beaver Creek (90's). I remembered it for the amazing ski experience. Well they have done so much since then to expand the amazing experience. Springfest activities for kids. A beautiful comfortable setting of cushioned chairs and gas fire pits. A reasonably priced ice skating experience at $10 per child. A five star vibe with top notch galleries and restaurants. It was a very nice place to visit.

We stopped here on our way to Meadow Mountain and stopped here for lunch. The staff is so friendly and nice. The food was amazing. Best French fries and onion rings I have ever had! There is an extensive children's menu and the kids also loved the food. Top that off with a huge, delicious piece of chocolate cake and it was just perfect!

Gerald Ford Amphitheater

The amphitheater is home to some great events throughout the summertime in Vail. Every Tuesday there is a free concert. It is packed with people. The free concerts vary each week with who performs there. Sometimes you know the music, sometimes you don't. Either way, there is great people watching and it is very social.
The Bravo Music festival bring the Dallas Symphony, Philadelphia Symphony and NY Philharmonic to Vail from June to the end of July. After that the Vail International Dance Festival starts - end of July thru the first two weeks of August.
You can bring in a picnic for food or buy food there. Wine and beer are served in the amphitheater. Don't bring in your own alcohol you need to buy it there. There is lawn seating or you can buy tickets with reserved seating for the ticketed events. bring and blanket if you are sitting on the lawn.
The vies are spectacular from the lawn.

I am still beaming after summiting my first 14er with Walking Mountains, Peter, and his fellow guides. Joined them on other hikes and will in the future. This welcoming group includes seasonal locals, vacationers and folks of all ages, whoever is available and interested on the allotted day. As I'm the big hiker in my family, this removes my concern about hiking alone and gives me access to gorgeous places. Well worth the time and your effort, wherever they take you around the Vail Valley environs.
