We grew up in neighboring Marinette and enjoyed John Henes Park since we were children. Historically, the park was donated by beer baron John Henes as a gift to his adoptive hometown. The park once had gorgeous granite walls and arched entrance. Before my time, the streetcars would stop at the west edge. Henes park is has a perimeter road with absolutely stunningly beautiful vistas of Green Bay. There is a nice sandy swim beach with guard tower. A good share of the park is heavily wooded with hidden ponds and streams to discover. There is no entrance fee, so it’s a nice place to pack a couple of sandwiches for a lunch, or plan a family reunion. Many years ago, Henes had a small train (similar to Bay Beach in Green Bay), but it’s been gone for years. The old rail route is now the many paths. I have many fond memories of grade school picnics and holiday celebrations there. My only criticism is during the 70-80s, the city installed a seedy zoo, and a mud hole of a buffalo enclosure onto what was once the large open, sunny picnic area. There were many complaints concerning animal enclosures. It would be nice if the City of Menominee restored that entire portion back into a multi-use open ground.

We discovered this brewery and loved it! Great brew and awesome swag! Owners are incredibly nice and personable. The wanderjahr, mutant deer and S.C.N. were our favorite beers. We loved it here and will be back. Check this place out!
