Classic car hire We have many routes for you to follow taking in the sights and scenery around Wiltshire, Somerset and the Cotswolds. From chocolate box villages with honey coloured stone cottages and thatch roofs to the ancient and mystical stones at Stonehenge and Avebury - we'll guide you down some of the most scenic roads the UK has to offer. For National Trust Members or those just interested in our fabulous heritage we have tours covering properties in 5 counties. For Inspector Morse fans we have researched the filming locations used and devised a tour taking in most - all you have to do is decide which of you plays Morse and which Lewis.
Hired an 1972 Alfa Spider for 24 hours from Friday midday to Saturday midday to stay at Whatley Manor. From my initial enquiry to the final wave goodbye the experience was exceptional. All the paperwork stuff is clearly explained, social distancing was well handled and didn't affect the enjoyment. Videos about the experience and the car in advance where very use. It was a professional experience but also a personal one as well, you really felt how they cared for the cars and know so much about them. The car itself was great fun to drive, old school, choke, heavy stearing and soft brakes, low to the road real driving. We were lucky with weather to be able to have the top down. Would highly recommend, hopefully we can hire again sometime.

This is our favourite NT small manor estate in North Wiltshire. It is worth taking one of the very interesting tours which are informative and informal. The rooms that are open to the public are not like stately manor rooms but comfortable and homey. There are photographs of the present owners who have raised their family in the rooms you are visiting and the Great Hall has often been used for local activities like dances, visiting plays take place in the gardens during the summer months and often plants from the gardens are for sale near the Medieval entrance. The Yew hedges are a special features for children to play and hide in, herbaceous borders are stunning in the summer months and you are welcomed by a moated property which oozes charm and character. Great Chalfield has been featured in many film and television series, most recently the Poldark TV series, the production of Wolf Hall, TV movie of Persuasion and the opening sequence of the movie ‘The Other Boleyn Girl’ when Henry VIII arrives to stay with his entourage to visit the Boleyn family. You need only spend a couple of hours here or you can spend more time In the gardens and walks nearby..

The five locks at Seend on the Kennet & Avon Canal were once a hive of activity with trade. Today, they are a picture of tranquility.
This is our first visit to the area and we had not heard of the Seend Locks before this. We walked along the tow path from the Camping and Caravan Club site to the part of the canal the locks start. The sight of the 15 stepped locks rising up the hill is spectacular! There are a few more locks before the rise starts making around 20 in total. The area between each rise has a small basin where we saw wildfowl and kingfishers. There is a new wood to the side of the canal which you can walk up to and by the side of which takes you to the top of the locks. There is a tea shop at the top which we didn't go into to. The path is not to muddy and fairly easy walking.
