We have skied for years in New England, Colorado, Utah etc. With our own equipment we joined friends in our home state of Maryland for a great weekend and wonderful skiing. The mountain was bigger than either of us expected, the lines were short, the...MoreThanks Milesriver! Very flattering to have such a positive review from a well-traveled skier. Hope to see you back on the slopes soon. --The Team at Wisp Resort

Stopped by to get an ice cream cone. The do NOT serve ice cream. But they do sell some of the est cheese I have eaten. They specialive in various goat cheese. One tastes like a wonderful brie. They also had a "mistake" that crosses a blue cheese with a brie. You simply MUST taste this. They also make a whole cow's milk blue cheese. It is better than Stilton, Amana, or Frommage de Albert! So instead of Ice cream, we ended up with a collection of great cheese. A great stop!

Visited Discovery Center once during our stay. We joined the program, along with many families, for reptiles and amphibians. It was very informative and we touched a snake for the first time. The program was free. The habitat for the presentation animals was on display as were other amphibians. Also on site were some rescued owls and 2 rescued eagles in enclosures. The horned owl was awake and on a perch the other 2 owls were hiding. The eagles were on their perches. There is a monarch butterfly cage used for raising them. This was a nice place to spend and hour or so and very good for families. Other programs catering to families were available.

State park that has three waterfalls and many hiking trails.
Our adventure today took us to Swallow Falls, weather called for rain so we were well prepared with boots and umbrellas.....rain held off for our entire hike but oh my goodness we should have brought our ice cleats to make the hike safe. The falls were raging and AMAZING but definitely was a tricky, slippery trek getting there. Will be returning soon!!

Precision Rafting has been rafting the rivers of Maryland and West Virginia for over 35 years. All raft trips are guided with extra safety boaters on all class 3-5 rivers. From scenic float trips to action packed adventure and everything in between, From Mild to wild, we have it all. Just add water and we'll do the rest. Let Precision Rafting Expeditions take you on a memorable river trip you won't soon forget.
We just got home from a Saturday raft trip, and couldn't have asked for a better experience. The weather was warm, the water was thrilling, and our guide Justin was a white water navigating ninja. This was our second time back to the Upper Yough w/ Precision, and the Betoney sisters will be back! Roger and his gang make sure safety is paramount and that everyone has a great time. The post-ride beer taste so good! Recommend ten times over.

This man-made course was fun (although nothing is as good as the real thing) because the guides taught skills and created challenges for everyone in the raft. Everyone on our trip definitely pushed themselves beyond their limit and was proud to say so afterwards. Expect to get wet, repeatedly!
A few things to consider:
1. Bring a towel! You will want one afterwards and can take a shower in the locker room.
2. Rent their gear- the complete wet suit was nice to have. I stayed warmer and protected.
3. Wear clothing that is thin and will easily fit under the wet suit.
4. Bring a change of dry clothing and a shower kit. You will want to wash your hair and get warm afterwards.
5. Closed toe shoes are required.
6. Leave all valuables in your car. (I would not recommend wearing jewelry either. Someone in our group even lost her small earring.)
7. Lockers are very affordable for your towel, etc.
8. Listen to the guides and be honest with them. They will work with you from your comfort level.
Have a wonderful time!

A great spot for water skiing, boating, hiking and swimming.
What a great place to have a picnic and a swim at a wonderful lake. The staff keeps it so clean and they are so friendly. Small charge to get in but you will love the hiking trails and the history here.

We spent a fun hour or so in this gift shop.......probably could have stayed longer.
Three buildings house all kinds of gift items......from holiday to gardening to gourmet foods to jewelry....and more. There are displays everywhere so you need to really look in all the nooks and crannies to be sure that you don't miss anything!
There are not many great shopping locations in Deep Creek, so you might want to stop in here to see all the merchandise they carry.

We wanted to do some hiking during our stay at Deep Creek Lake. We chose the Swallow Falls trek. It took several of us of different ages and abilities about two hours to make this gentle hike. The scenery was gorgeous and the trail was well maintained. A good time was had
by all.

You won't need to spend an entire day exploring this place, but you'll appreciate the look at something very old, in an attractive quiet area. Displays are interesting inside the house, grounds a pleasant ramble too.
