First off, the water is freezing. I love water parks, but I hate being cold and wet so I didn't really want to do anything. We spent a lot of time in the "Warm Springs" pool, which I think was supposed to be hot - it was not. It was lukewarm, and the temperature the rest of the water park *should* have been. Second problem we had was my 6 year old was very upset at being sprayed with (cold) water in the face on almost everything he tried to do. The big center portion of the park sprays a huge amount of (cold) water out in every direction... he was too big for the kiddie pool, and wanted to try some slides and other fun water stuff, but couldn't because he didn't want cold water spraying in his face and dumped on his head. Heck, even I didn't want to ride anything because of the spraying water - it's the only water park I've ever visited that I didn't want to participate for this reason (there are no slides available that aren't forcefully spraying water. Suggestion? Build a few slides in a "quieter" place that would be for kids AND adults who don't like sensory overload). We mostly did the kiddie pool and swam in the "warm springs." We had fun because we made the most of it and enjoyed being together as a family. However, it was an expensive dip in the pool and wish we could have done more... won't be returning.

Parking is limited and confusing for someone that is not familiar with the area. There is alot of see at this place and we always enjoy stopping by. Dont forget your camera, its a lovely place to take photos.

There are many shops where kids can "build" a doll or animal. So why go here? Bottom line - cost. The most reasonable cost I have come across. We left paying less than $40. But the joy of watching my grandson picking through the animals, then he and his mom filling the animal with the stuffing and the smile on his face as chose what went inside the special pocket was as they say "priceless." The options are many in terms of personalizing your animal with outfits. After making the animal, he and his father were on the computer creating the birth certificate. All in all a family affair for a good price.

Located in the heart of Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, CrossKeys Vineyards is a family-owned 125-acre estate winery that welcomes every guest with a warm smile and award-winning wines. Our Tuscan-style villa and gourmet onsite Bistro offer beautiful panoramic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and an easy to love setting for weddings, private events, or a quick weekend escape.
Food and service were ok. Nothing special. My major complaint is the dining area was over run by black flies. Kind of hard to get into an expensive gourmet lunch when there are black flies crawling over everything.

A new adventure for every day of the week:Canoeing, Kayaking and Tubing on the Shenandoah River. Portable rock climbing wall. Motor coach tours departing from Massanutten Resort: Washington, D.C, Charles Town Casino, Brewery Tour, Vineyard and Wine Tasting Tour, President's Tour and Civil War Tour.
The overall experience was good but I have some real safety issues and concerns. You get a life vest, but, in my opinion, and from my personal turnovers ( twice ) experience, you should be issued safety helmets too. My husband and I are both pretty physically fit. We wanted to ride together in a canoe. Not a good move. The canoe's they use are not the right type for this type of rapid water...a wider and flatter bottom canoe should be used in my humble opinion. But, the flat/still water is fine but the 6-8 Class I, Class II rapids in a canoe are a whole different animal. We got pulled in to the rapids sideways by the current and flipped over into the sharp rocks, lost our canoe and one of our paddles. Luckily, some other people in front of us down river saw the empty canoe and paddles, stopped it and pulled it off to the side and came back up stream as far as they could to check on us and help us. We basically had to body surf down thru the sharp rocks and rapid water until we could get to them. They pulled us on their kayaks to our canoe. But, we were cut up and bleeding from the sharp rocks. It all happened is a split second. This is why I say you need helmets on. It you hit your head on one of those sharp rocks when you turn over, it's gonna be bad. You're not put out with any guide whatsoever. You're basically dropped off at Elkton, given a very basic 15 minute instruction/safety course and told, we will see you in about 3 hours down at the take out point at the Shenandoah Bridge...and good luck. Beautiful scenery and a lot of fun overall, but, they don't do enough for safety precautions and in my opinion, you should have a guide. Had it not been for the other people in the group, my husband and I would still be stranded over on the bank of the river with no one to help us or rescue us. And...don't take your phone....even in a case.....we lost our phone and a wedding band in the turnover, being thrown around in the rapid water and rocks.

We passed through Elkton on our way to Grand Caverns and found McGuires Country Store on the highway bypass. Cute little shop that features real antiques, country-style decor, and more. Worth a look.

This park while fairly small has all sorts of activities to keep the little ones occupied. Older kids will think the park is cool but may not have as much to do. But elementary school kids and younger have all sorts of things to do. By the way, James Madison university arboretum is located right across the street. Which also has a nice trail and duckpond. The kids will like that a lot as well, no crossing the street can be difficult at times.

Good variety of wine, reasonably priced with options, all about $1 per wine sampled. It seems to be...MoreThank you for visiting the farm. It is true our current POS does not proccess AMEX.
