Mason is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan. It is named after the state's first governor, Stevens T. Mason. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 8,252. It is the county seat of Ingham County. Mason is the only city in the U.S. that serves as a county seat ahead of a state capital, with the capital of Lansing also in Ingham County. Despite Mason being the county seat, many county offices and courtrooms are located in Lansing.

MSU's huge country-like campus offers a lovely setting for running, biking or just hanging out, and also has places to visit, like the Beal Botanical Gardens, Sanford Natural Area, the 70,000-capacity Spartan football stadium, an art center, planetarium and, of course, the MSU Dairy Store for ice cream.
Anytime I have friends and loved ones from out of state, they want to see the updates at Michigan State University. The campus is designed with the walking student to classes in mind. Don't forget to tour the farms attached too. Even check out the Student Union is a must.

I used to come here as a kid in the 70's and it was the place to be. It would be packed. Now that kids go more to Lake Lansing and Hawke Island, Burchfield seems to be forgotten. But if you don't like the crowds, this is the place to go. Clean, quiet, no crowds at all, pavilions, play ground and bring a picnic. Water is very clean too.

I love this place! This is a very large building that hosts 55 + vendors each with their own unique booth space. You will find everything from antiques, collectibles, hand-crafted items, large furniture, jewelry, etc. You can spend hours upon hours going through every nook and cranny there is so much to see. The prices are dependent upon each individual vendor's booth, but most are very modestly and reasonably prices...especially compared with some of the other antique/junk/collectible shops that you'll find in downtown Mason. This building sits right on the corner of the main square and is easily accessible and a very cute building. They also have sidewalk sales and other special events throughout the year. This is a must to go explore!

Plan to spend a day or two playing 27 holes on this golf course.
I play here every year several times. They have three 9s. You can play them in various combinations. Course is always well maintained. The club house has a nice pro shop and restaurant. Have eaten here when playing in outings. Their steak diners are OK. Well worth playiing.

Mason Antique District consists of 9 or 10 buildings and is located across the street from the Old Mill Antique Mall. There is anything and everything. From expensive antique items to what in my opinion is pure junk. A fun place to spend an hour or two looking for things that interest you.

Visit more than 100 species of animals, many of which are endangered, including Black Rhinos, Siberian Tigers, Red Pandas and Snow Leopards.
After our plans fell though, we decided to try out this zoo. Yes it's still open in the winter: $3 an adult, $2 a child, super cheap. I couldn't believe how many animals were actually still out. It was a very nice 40° day, so maybe that made a difference. All the exhibits looked well kept, and many brand new. The otters we so much fun to watch. Most of the exhibits had a nice spot with glass instead of a fence to look through, and designed with little humans in mind to allow them to see as well. There are two buildings that are heated. The aviary and lizard house and the house for monkeys, lemurs ,lions and tigers. All the animals seemed happy and even liked to show off when some one walked by. For it being a small zoo there are a lot of variety of the animals here. Penguins, red pandas, llamas, meerkats, ravens, crows, peacocks galore and so much more. The coolest part was the moose exhibit. It was way in the back of the zoo, a huge area with a nice board walk with a pond. Never have I had a chance to see moose in real life, so we sat there watching for a long time. Definitely worth the trip back in the summer.

I have given this place three separate visits. Every single one ends in the same result, why did I come here. It is REALLY disappointing because I know a number of people that rave about it, so I figure I just had that one off night, but after three times I just can't give it another go.
Food - Good selection, but every-time we go our food seems to have sat too long, it's cold and disappointing.
Service - Slow, I don't know what else to say here. Our drinks go empty, our food is cold, and it just seems like we get ignored. We are a pretty average family, not demanding or mean to waitstaff. I believe it is as important for a customer to be kind and thankful as it is the staffs job.
Atmosphere - Good, place has a nice "pub" feel and it always seems to have a steady amount of customers. A really nice location in downtown Mason, parking can be a challenge as there isn't really a dedicated parking area for the PUB.

The annual reunion is a three day affair, always starting on the last Friday in July. See wood fired, live steam tractors and equipment in action, including shingle and saw mills. There are also some antique gasoline or diesel engines on view. There is a large flea market at the reunion, which had tools, old iron, and things useful for restoring old engines, as well as the usual flea market offerings. There are a number of food trucks at the reunion. This is a pleasant place to spend a day in July. If you are interested at other times, call or check the website.

Eagle View Golf Club is a course I look forward to playing several times each year. The course seems to get a little nicer each year. It is always in great shape and well groomed. The course is very walkable. Club house has food and drinks. Staff is always helpful and goes out of its way to assist when asked. If in the Lansing area well worth playing.
