A gorgeous backdrop of pine-clad mountains looms behind the seaside resort of Marmaris in southwest Turkey. Popular as a cruise ship and yacht port and with the British budget holiday crowd, Marmaris offers an abundance of fast food restaurants, the restored castle of Suleyman the Magnificent and an appealing cobblestoned old quarter. Outside the busy town, coves and bays of the Datça Peninsula make lovely daytrip destinations for those traveling by boat.

interesting island with lots of historical attractions Cleopatra beach : Outstanding beach and According to the legend, Cleopatra and Antonius used to swim here and the sands have been brought by the ships from North Africa. It’s been said that this type of the sand can only be seen in Egypt. For that reason it is forbidden to get and carry sand from the beach . Appollon Kutsal Alani A historical place , interesting and worth a visit .Place is full of ancient stones , columns and much more .The view from top overlooking the beach is breathtaking Tiyatro agora : Absolutely amazing, a ancient theater with huge capacity , interesting the way how is built. Kistac church: Great location overlooking the beach , only left ancient rock and columns A must visit island if you planning to visit Marmaris and to enjoy a day by the beach under the sun , water is so clean and clear . Highly recommended

We visited marmaris in September and had a lovely walk up to the harbour! This walk took approx 20 mins from our hotel julian club, along the harbour there are many places to eat and drink including lots of water sports to do! Bar street is at the back of the marina along with more shops! The ferry boats are down the other end too :)
