Beautiful mountain resort so close to Maribor, perfect for both winter and summer vacation. Electric gondola makes the trip to the top significantly faster, giving a marvelous opportunity to shoot a Maribor panorama.

The Old Vine, the oldest vine in the world, resides in Maribor right at the centre of the old town. The Old Vine, with an age that spans over 400 years, won its place into the Guinness World Records by being the oldest noble vine in the world still bearing grapes; there is no room for doubt about this as experts have confirmed that it is indeed the oldest! From its clusters come the Žametovka, also known as Blaufränkisch, a variety of grape which masters annually squeeze for its precious juice. The Old Vine symbolizes the rich wine culture of Maribor and Slovenia, and finally the entire world. Today, descendants of this great vine are grown almost all over the world. A lot of symbolism Let the Old Vine tell you her story; this venerable lady speaks of wine, resilience, and life energy. Let yourself be inspired by its immense power, both symbolically and with the energy from the fruit of its sisters.

Established in 1847, the Vinag wine cellar stretches on 2,2 km underground, covers more than 15,000m² and is full of wooden barrels and concrete tanks. It is known as one of the biggest in classical wine cellars in the city center in Europe. Join the guided tour of the cellar and taste local wine. Our small shop will not leave you disappointed, as it offers a broad variety of wines from the region.
Tours are truly recommendable. Wine is the real passion for this guy and for the time being they are not doing to earn money. Tour is somewhat 2km of walking through cellars under the city centre and the guide explains professionally how the wine was being produced historically and how it developed to our days. You also will geto to know facts about history of wine making in the Maribor area. Whole tour with wine tasting costs 5€ per person, which seems inadequate for the experience you get.

Not that we found Maribor riotous but the city park is perfect to just get away from it all. A well kept clean spacious park with ample seating to just sit back relax and watch the world go by
