Fossils Galore

Welcome to Fossils Galore, Fossils Galore is a non-profit education centre that started in 2002 as a website for round the world fossil and crystal enthusiasts, this then grew and became the centre it is today. The aim of the centre is to educate the young and old about life in the past, right back to the beginning of life. One of the first things you see as you walk into the centre is our museum where we put on themed displays of fossils and crystals from around the world, with all the information about the display around it so the public can learn about these displays in there own time and if they have any questions we always have a member of the team on hand to help answer these questions. On the second floor of the centre we have the pride of the team, our preparation laboratory where the public can see our team working on a range of bones from the Jurassic deep sea’s to Ice Age animals.

Had a lovely time at fossils galore this afternoon, many activities for the children to choose from. My boys choose to do fossil hunting, shark tooth hunting, geode rock smashing and fossil sculpting, plus they got to keep 3 of everything they found and the geode crystals. Pricing was fair and had nice little gift shop at the end. It was welcoming and lots to see and do if you have dinosaur lovers like mine ???????? will definitely be back

Saint Wendreda's Church

A group of us visited the church on Saturday 7th March, 2020. We were met by a most enthusiastic member of the church who gave us a very stimulating talk on the church. The most striking feature of the church is the amazing, hammer beam roof. It is carved with flying angels and important biblical figures. The other feature of the church is the fascinating story of Saint Wendreda herself, an Anglo Saxon princess, who was incidentally responsible for the conversion of King Canute to Christianity.

Lovely flat walk on a very good path that is safe to let dogs off the lead. There are loads of different butterflies and dragonflies along the entire length of the path, plus lots of benches for a sit down along the way too. It ends with a drop down on either a slope or steps to a small pond with reeds and lily pads Plus dragonflies, pond skaters etc. A lovely walk in the fens.
