Taipa-Mangonui is one name given to a string of small resort settlements in the far north of New Zealand's North Auckland Peninsula, close to the base of the Aupouri Peninsula. The resorts of Taipa, Cable Bay, Coopers Beach, and Mangonui, all of which lie along the coast of Doubtless Bay, are so close together that they have run together to form one larger settlement with a combined population of 1566 (2006 census).

The views from the hill out into Doubtless Bay and along the coastline in Taumarumaru Reserve are breath-taking. Cooper's Beach looks stunning. There is a tiny bay on the seaward side that can be accessed by a walking track which is beautiful. The views to the north over Chuck's Cove and Cable Bay and further on to Aurere Beach, Tokerau Beach and the Karikari Peninsula are magnificent. Worth the small climb to get to the top!

360 degree views from this historic pa site, mostly across the harbours and out to the ocean. Well worth the 10 minute walk from the carpark, Terraces evident, easy to imagine how the pa might have been.

A lovely walk through this delightful town - the Historical Society has done an excellent job of maintaining the signs and information which make this walk so interesting and enjoyable. And the Art and Craft Gallery in the centre of town is truly splendid!

Situated between Mangonui and Cable Bay, Coopers Beach is a four hour drive north of Auckland. It offers over 2km of wide and level beach framed by Pohutukawa trees, making it one of the most eye-catching beaches in the Northland region. It is easy to find shade under one of the trees and have your own private spot. Gentle waves makes it good for kids and there are local shops and a Foursquare supermarket located in one of the parking areas.
