Just off the pristine coast of Croajingolong National Park, you'll discover Gabo Island. Wild and remote, this island is surrounded by magnificent views and offers a unique day trip or stay. Rich in cultural history, the island features the only operating island lighthouse in Victoria. Constructed from 1858 to 1862 using the distinctive pink granite found on the island, the 47 metre high Gabo Island Lighthouse is the second tallest lighthouse in Australia. Take a picnic lunch and walk around the island, taking in the ruins, the radar station, the monument to the ship 'Monumental City' and the old cemetery. Ramble over the islands pink granite shoreline and rock pools, discover the amazing underwater world in the clear waters of Santa Barbara Bay or relax on the sandy beach and take in the spectacular views and surrounding seascapes. A haven for plants and animals, the island supports highly significant colonies of seabirds. Keep a lookout for passing whales, dolphins and seals.

Cruise the magnificent Lakes of Mallacoota onboard the historic MV Loch Ard built in 1910. Take in some of the most pristine wilderness Australia has to offer. Watch the magestic White Bellied Sea Eagles feed and capture some great photos. Hear some interesting commentary from Capt Dale Winward on the history of Mallacoota's early pioneers and indiginous culture. Affordable for the whole family.

We had a lovely 3 hour cruise in one of these hire boats. Pretty scenery from the water, natural bush and secluded inlets. Dave was super friendly and very informative, gave us all the instructions and info we needed. Great afternoon. Great value.

The area is slowly starting to green up after the bushfires, it is as beautiful as ever. A lot of work has gone into building walkways along the coast line in town making for many parts an easy walk. It really is a very lovely area to walk and explore

Mallacoota wilderness houseboats offer a rare opportunity to experience the massive Mallacoota Inlet in a unique way. The boats sleep 6 , are fully appointed and allow you to watch the sun go down and wake up on the water. Tow your tinny behind and be the first one on the water fishing or simply relax.
We just had 5 nights on the Inlet Wanderer with another couple and we had a fantastic time. The houseboat is really well equipped with everything you need. If anything, the description on the website undersells the features. We had a great time exploring the whole inlet over several days and enjoyed tying up the boat at a different location every night. We fished, saw lace monitors and walked thru the bush. We saw amazing sunrises and sunsets. Awesome holiday
