Wasatch Front Farmers Market makes its home at Gardner Village July through October. Spend the afternoon or day milling around Utah's favorite shopping, dining and historic experience.
Gardner Village is a really lovely, fun shopping experience for both kids and adults. It is exactly as the title says, a beautifully laid out, tiny village with some authentically historic buildings. Though it's a little out-of-the-way for the average visitor to Salt Lake City (located about 25 minutes away from downtown, in West Jordan), it's well worth the effort if you have the time. Most of the shops are small, locally owned businesses, and you can actually find a number of items handmade in Utah. There's a great candy shop that also has really good cocoa and ice cream, a toy store, a knitting store, kid's clothing, a great consignment housewares store, and so on. During the Christmas season, they have scenes from an elf village place throughout, with a scavenger hunt for the kids. In the field next to the village, they often have activities set up for kids - pony rides, and so forth. I highly recommend it as a shopping outing, especially if you're looking for something a little different.

Utah Olympic Oval is home to the 'Fastest Ice on Earth'. We invite you to skate and play at this spectacular venue. From beginner programs to public skate sessions, there is something for everyone.
During the Christmas season the Oval is closed but the parking lot is used for a drive through, 1 mile, 1 million+ lights show synched to music. Cost was about $25 per car. Reservations needed. All I can say about the show is WOW!!! Take time to see this event!

Hale Centre Theatre (HCT) is Utah's Premiere Family Theatre whose mission is to provide afforadable world-class family theatre and theatre education for and by the community. HCT produces plays and musicals year-round in its center stage theatre. HCT opened in 1985 in South Salt Lake and became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 1997 in preparation to move to its current location in West Valley City in 1998. HCT provides theatre education programs as well as costume rentals.
We love HTC and have come attended numerous performances over the years. Such a great venue for these wonderful musicals. We just saw Seven Brides for Seven Brothers the other night. It's one of our favorite musicals and HTC did not disappoint. Everything was great. The scenery, the music, and the actors were fantastic. It really is a wonderful little place to visit. We hope to return after they have relocated.

Holiday River Expeditions offers several Utah River Rafting vacations. The Green River rafting trip is a 5 or 6 day trip that features exciting whitewater rapids for all ages. This trip usually includes some hiking to explore ancient Indian ruins and petroglyphs. The San Juan River rafting trip is a 3-day adventure down the exquisite San Juan River where you’ll experience the phenomenon of "sand waves". The Yampa River is the last undammed river in the Colorado River system and this is a 4 or 5 day trip for the intermediate river rafting enthusiast. The Desolation Canyon river rafting vacation is rated "easy" and is available for children as young as five years old. This is a 5 or 6 day river rafting trip through Canyonlands National Park where the scenery is always breathtaking. Adventure seekers will enjoy an abundance of wildlife sightings such as elk, moose and black bear and some great trout fishing. Transportation to and from the river is included in the cost, as well as delicious campfire meals prepared fresh each day.
Just returned from my second Westwater Canyon trip and what an amazing time. This company does it right and the trip was absolutely perfect. A big thanks to Colter, Rolf, Vern, Sandy and Josh for doing such an outstanding job taking care of everything. They love their work and in so doing make the entire experience simply fantastic. Holiday sets a bar that few others can meet and we are already thinking about another trip next year.

We had a spectacular time at the motorcycle on ice event, and for the hockey game as well. We had safe parking, good food options, and a memorable family night out. I highly recommend it.
We have also held corporate events there and other large meetings.

We went to the Empress Theater to see Cole Porter’s musical masterpiece, “Kiss Me Kate,” on the last night it was playing. The show includes such iconic songs as “Another Op'nin', Another Show,” “Wunderbar,” From This Moment On” and "Brush Up Your Shakespeare" The performers are mostly local people who volunteer to be in the shows, and this night they gave it their all. The audience loved it, and we were surrounded by the delightful screams of audience members who recognized their favorite moments in the show. The audience is seated in movie theater style seats that are on both sides of the floor or the stage. The singers did a good job with some very memorable songs. We thought that the lead soprano had a very lyrical voice, and enjoyed her singing very much. Unfortunately, the theater does not supply programs, so I can’t give credit by name to these actors who were so enthusiastic in their work. The audience is allowed to eat and drink in the theater, and the food counter has a nice selection of movie theater type snacks.. The Empress Theater is located on the main street of Magna at 9104 West 2700 South. It seemed to us that it is about an easy twenty minute drive on freeway and four lane roads to get there. The next production of the Empress Theater is going to be “Shrek, The Musical” and it runs from April 25th through May 17th with performances on Monday, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7:30 and a Matinee on Wednesday May 3, May 10, and May 17 at 2 p.p.m. I bet it will be a lot of fun for all involved. I know our audience was having a great time at “Kiss Me Kate,” and I suspect people routinely thoroughly enjoy the performances of the Empress Theater in Magna.

I have gone to these theaters for as long as they have been open. They are always very clean and the various workers, from box office to snack bar to maintenance workers are all very efficient and friendly. I highly recommend these theaters for a great movie going experience.

This small, quiet, not-too-remote state park along I-80 is a great place to see sunset. A small boardwalk leads to the lookout deck where you can enjoy the beautiful sunset glow over Great Salt Lake. Informative and educational boards are displayed on the desk, accompanied with free audio guide that you can download and play from your smart phone. Truly a hidden gem! Do not miss when you visit Salt Lake City area.

Yet more massive, brutalist architecture, with a good attempt to soften it by instituting rooftop gardens. Lines were long for the Thursday evening rehearsal of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir (this is the summer venue), but no worries, the hall seats 21,000. This choir ARRIVES PREPARED, with music already learned. What a difference that makes.
