The original must go destination in Chiang Rai. The small restaurant offers good cheap northern Lanna food. The museum about the Princess Mother and the Mahidol family is always inspiring but its exactly the same as 10 years ago so needs an upgrade. I enjoyed my visit to the Doi Tung Villa as we took time to listen to the audio guide and really look around. The local market on the way to the car park offers lots of local products, fruits, vegetables from the local hill tribe villagers. One big recommendation from me is to drive down from Doi Tung to Mae Sai past the Arboretum on route 1149, going through Pha Hee village. The route is one of the most beautiful on the Thai-Myanmar border, driving past a Burmese border outpost & seeing Myanmar's mountains of Shan State.

The royal residence of HRH the late Princess Mother formerly served as her base of operations to monitor the work progress at the Doi Tung Development Project. It has since been transformed into a symbol of the Princess Mother's commitment to improving the local people's quality of life.
Lovely experience. We done the whole experience of the flower garden, museum and touring the royal villa. The villa itself is still amazing and they have kept the villa as the way as the late queen stayed in there when visiting the area. gardens are very well looked after and have many butterflies!

As a famous tourist spot, the Mae Fah Luang Garden generates revenue and creates jobs that make the most of the various skills available in Doi Tung.
The Garden located is located next to Doi Tung Royal Villa and is a huge one with lots of varieties of flowers & plants on display. The garden is beautifully built & offers a lots of opportunities for photographs.

Had a guided tour. Trip up the mountain was something in itself. Really enjoyed the fact that this was a small Wat with more worshipers than tourists. Very relaxing looking around. Receive a gift and a blessing from a monk.

A modern exhibition portraying the role of the Mahidol family in improving the lives and livelihoods of the Thai people in all corners of the Kingdom through simple but effective works, and how their examples can inspire so many others.

Stayed at BAANHOMMUENLEE hotel . From the point that had 7 Eleven , paid THB30 to MotorCycle to take me up to the temple because I had heavy stuffs. After giving merit, took the stairs up to Phrathat Chedi Srinagarindra Stit Maha Santi Khiri. Lots of step but it was cooling and the Air in November was fresh . Must Do!

I went to the restaurant to have lunch and decided to go for a walk at the plantation afterwards. It was beautiful! You can take a walk right in the tea plantation and immerse yourself amongst all the tea leaves. Luckily, it was a perfect day with a cool breeze. You can also rent traditional tea picking clothes to be worn for the full experience. You can find these at the shop for 100 thb. Perfect photo opportunities!
