We develop our hiking and cultural exchange tours in cooperation with the local people, enabling them to creatively use their skills in communications, agriculture, ecology and the arts. Our office and coffee corner are located in the center of Lushoto town.
Through Tupande Tours we were able to hike through the beautiful Usumbara Mountains. Although our vacation included a luxurious stay in Zanzibar and a great Safari, I was most impressed by the three-day hike we undertook with Tupande. Tupande went out of their way to arange transport from Mombo to Lushoto and to help us there. We were assigned three great guides (big group of ten people): Kristina, Constantine and Khalid.
Those three guides went out of their way to make the 60 km hike as comfortable as possible. The hike, which took us through the rugged but breathtaking Usumbara Mountains was long and hard. We went through the rainforest in the rain, and had to shake of the local children under a burning sun. But let me tell you, if you want to meet genuine and friendly Tanzanians in an amazing and diverse landscape, then you have to visit the Usumbara Mountains.

We had an amazing time on a 4 day hike with Said in June 2017. Definitely value for money. We loved all of the accommodation, especially bush baby guest house. Can definitely recommend Said as a guide for any hiking around Lushoto.Thank you so much for the review

Irente Biodiversity Reserve is a nature reserve, organic farm and lodging a few kilometers outside Lushoto. Sporting lush rainforests, with over a 100 recorded bird species, wetlands and a beautiful waterfall it is a destination in its own right. The Terrace restaurant serves a variety of foods and snacks from the farm's produces while offering a stunning view of the farm and surrounding hills and Valleys.Home made rye bread, butter, cheese, jam and juice and vegetables and fruits are served both in the restaurant and available in the shop. Accommodation is available to cater for all tastes and budget. A well equipped campsite is also in place, with easy access to the farm and restaurant.
If, like us, you have been travelling through Africa for a very long time, this is a stop to lunch. Home-made cheeses (young gouda type, okay...) , excellent bread , fruits , vegetables, BUTTER ! , excellent jams (plum, passion fruit , ...) . This was simply excellent ! Lunch is not expensice, considering the quantity of food they serve. The view on the Mountains is beautiful. You can easily walk there from Lushoto (1 hour walk) without a guide (prepare your way).

We heard about Raymond trough some friends. We stayed one year in Tanzania and this was one of the best experiences. It's not touristic at all and the walking trips are costume made. Together with Raymond you see what the best option is for every person and every budget. He knows very well what you can do in what amount of time.
We went all the way to the mambo cliff view point what is defiantly worth the hike!
He speaks very well English and knows a lot of stories about Lushote, Tanzania, and everything else :)

We have organized a 3-day (2 nights) trek through the Usambara Mountains (starting and ending in Lushoto) with Anthony as our guide and we could not have done a better choice for this region. We left our big luggage in Lushoto and had only smaller backpacks. Anthony organized everything with great detail: trek through forest, villages, accomodation for 2 nights, food, cooking class in a local village, beautiful viewpoints, transport by car. Anthony was very flexible, friendly, accomodating and knowledgable about the area, people, fauna and flora, which we appreciated a lot. We recommend to anyone who enjoys relatively trekking through Mountains and getting to know local environment and communities.
