Top elevation at 2,000 feet above sea level and more than 130 acres of ski terrain make this a favorite winter recreation area.
So heres the thing.
The trails are spread apart. Perhaps that's why the ski prices vary here.
For a beginner skier, this place is suberbly better than Dry Hill. Also more trails and more challenging for the advanced skier but I just was really impressed with thier beginner trail operation.
They have a super easy bunny hill that has it's own lift. The lift is very slow moving and the "drop off" couldn't be made any easier to get off of. Nice job!
Additionally, next to that lift, but just a very short hop away, they have another beginner hill that's like the next step for beginners.
I really liked it cause it was a good one to practice my form. I'm an inter. skier on nice groomed slopes but a beginner on ungroomed or mogoly slopes.
Now this chair lift is faster and the 'drop off" a little more challenging for a true beginner but easy for me.
The main ski area was a hike to get to with ski's in hand and little ones.
The bad part is that if you want to get back to the warming/food area etc, you have to hike it and it's a bit of a walk in ski boots and especially with little ones.
My solution would be to have some sort of pulley system where you can hold on and it would take you back and forth .
The other trails were more for an advanced intermediate and up. They were steep and not groomed greatly. Plenty of challenges for your advanced skiers. Lots of technique building oportunities.
They were spread apart also but not like the distance as between the main area and the beginner slopes.
If you have one beginner skier and one solid inter. or advanced skier, then you cannot ski down and meet at bottom. My husband didn't see one trail my son and I would have done comfortably but I stand to be corrected.
Simply put, the areas are split. Plenty of trails as you can find out on their website but they are short. 500 feet is max steepness or verticle drop.
I loved the lodge. Quite big and love all the extra room. Lots of tables too. Amazingly we came in for lunch and we were able to sit down where we had parked all of our gear at the table. People respected your stuff and your saved table which was unexpected.
Food was really pretty good. Nice selection.
The beginner lift operator George and Fred were very patient. Thanks for that!
Great job on bathroom access. Ample in all areas.
4 out of 5 stars due to Ski patrol. Yes I was in the wrong to have my camel back hose sticking out which caught on chair as I was getting off. We had small mini back packs on and this guy chewed us out for a full 5 minutes. At first I was like, "ok, I get it" BUT then the chewing got so bad and long that I had to bit my lip from laughing. My husband wrote an email.
We are 40 and 50 years old..and just sat there stunned as he continued..
Other than that which kinda put a damper on our day, we had a great time.

This is an interesting museum if you are intersted in the history of maple syrup production. Nothong spectacular but worth a stop if you happen to be in Crogjan. Many artefacts some of them related to timber. They are graduallu refreshing the small bulding and opening exhibition rooms. Croghan is located in north western New York State

First time for the Brunch. Overall it was good. There was a nice variety of food. There were made to order omelets, delicious ham, a sausage casserole along with lunch items, Turkey, macaroni & cheese. Some of the food was not hot enough the waffles and beef stroganoff were cold. I ordered a mimosa you were able to pick what you wanted in it when I asked where my strawberry was ( I had to asked) she said we are out of them! The wait staff should be told ahead of time if they are out of something before you order!
We may go back and give it another chance.

Beautiful spot for a short hike and a picnic. Park has been modernized with a small and a large pavilion for family and group picnics. The trail along the gorge, however, is in terrible condition. The fences separating the rough trail from the drop-off are old, rotten, and completely absent in places. While the scenery is gorgeous (no pun intended) we did not feel safe.

We ate here with family (all adults) for our first time, his parents had been a few times prior. This little gem of a restaurant offers a fabulous view of the golf course. They have recently remodeled the interior and have new owners. The Chef, Patrick Ryan has some serious culinary skills. We shared the Hungarian Stuffed Peppers and Gnocchi as appetizers, both were amazing. For dinner I had one of the specials, the Shaved Prime Rib Sandwich, the creamy horseradish sauce definitely took it to a whole new level. All though we didn't order dessert the Chef (who is a family friend) sent a plate of Cannoli to our table, they were to die for. I highly recommend eating here, everything about Carloden is perfect and you don't have to be a golfer/member to enjoy a meal here.

Spent 5 days here and loved it. The campsites are spacious and private. There are some that aren't but they are with electricity and are mostly used by big trailers. The hike to the gorge is 5 miles and can be somewhat challenging but worth the effort. The park is near Lowville which is convenient if you need any gear you may have forgotten or need groceries. There is a Walmart, TSC, Tops and Dollar General so all the basics are covered. Oh ya, there is a cheese store to die for. Spent $50 on cheese alone LOL. Its a small operation but they sure know how to make great cheese. Also, the wood is inexpensive from the park so just buy it there.

Great snow tubing park! Reasonable prices. Fast runs. Beautiful scenery.
Dress warm of course! Kids and adults all had a lot of fun. Price was good. Also has military discount. Always check website to make sure they are open for sure. We have been coming here 3 winters so far.

OPEN SKY offers therapeutic massages, skin care/facials and acupuncture in a relaxing atmosphere. We offer deep muscle tension relief, release of chronic patterns of tension, and aches & pains. We have six treatment rooms. Open 7 days a week by appointment. OPEN SKY is known for being the best massages in the North Country!
From the moment you enter Open Sky there is a feeling of calm- which is enhanced when you visit the therapy room. The massage tables are sturdier than other places and they are always the right temperature. I love the therapists too- they take time to check in with you during each visit and also during the massage to see how things are- not too often- but just enough- and there are always special touches like warm towels. It's a great place to relax.

A full service bar and restaurant with something different. Enjoy a cold drink and a good meal. Then stick around and play a round of golf or test your shooting skills with our indoor simulators. Or bring the guys over for some pool or darts and watch the game on our 12 foot screen.
I still love going to this place even though I can't golf to save my life. They have a great selection of drinks and most of the food is good. There are a few items on the menu that just don't do it for me, but it is bar food. If you are looking for a relaxing game of golf inside this winter with good beverages, then you must visit 3D Sports!
