Adirondack Experience is now closed for the regular season and will reopen on Friday, May 25, 2018. A regional museum of history and art, the museum's 23 buildings and exhibitions are situated on 121 acres, offering spectacular mountain and lake views. The museum's extensive collections give visitors the opportunity to experience how people have lived, worked, traveled and played in the Adirondacks since the 1800s. Exhibit themes include: boats and boating, land transportation, outdoor recreation, the environment, logging, rustic traditions, fine arts, and tourism. Interactive discovery centers and hands-on activities abound throughout the museum, making it a fun place for families with children to play and learn. Watch the Boat Builder in Residence construct a traditional Adirondack guideboat, take part in a workshop, feed the trout, or participate in a school field trip. Allow 2 - 3 hours for a relaxing visit.

We just visited the Adirondack Museum and its new exhibit, the Adirondack Experience. The new addition is really a museum inside a museum, and to do it justice you need to allow for 2-3 hours to really enjoy the features and the interactive displays. Definately an easy little hike, but just a precaution for the not-so-sure-footed. Take your time. Lots of families and couples with dogs. My unofficial survey said most dogs were a little fearful of the falls. Beautiful spot, and so glad we came.

This place is jam-packed with STUFF. Can't think of anything they DON'T have, from books to food to clothes to camping equipment, barbecue supplies, bath oils, souvenirs, etc, etc, etc. I vacation in Long Lake annually and always make several trips to Hoss's. Even if you end up not buying anything, it's fun to browse the two floors. With such a large selection of goods, in and around every nook and cranny, you're bound to find something you hadn't seen during your prior visit. Check it out if you're in the area.

Had an amazingly enjoyable and delightful tour with Bob on the blue plane!! Loved every minute of his narration. My hubby got to check this off his bucket list! Would totally do this again if back in the area...it was not expensive. $40 per person with a $90 minimum to go up so we opted just the 2 of us. That way no obstructed view from other passengers. Well worth it! Thank you Bob and Helm's Aero for a memorable experience!!

We really enjoyed our visit here. The trails are handicap accessi ble. This was nice after hiking up Coney Mountain earlier in the trip. We saw (and heard) a loon on the lake. You can camp overnight here. It was definitely worth the slow two mile trip into the park.

I have been camping at Lake Eaton for at least 25 years. The sites are generally private with lots of trees to separate sites. None of the State DEC Parks have electric hookups, so you will hear generators running. It is not the secret that it once was so it can get pretty crowded. The waterfront sites are just perfect, but again, it has become a popular place over the last 15 years so they are hard to get unless you reserve early. The sites aren't big enough for the big Class A's and fifth Wheels, which is nice. I am fairly certain that sites one, two, and maybe three and four could accommodate big rigs, but that's it. One year I chased a loon around the lake with my kayak. The village of Long Lake is also very nice. If you get the chance, I highly recommend taking a sea plane ride. I also love the Northern Borne grocery store. It just reminds me of when I was a kid. If you are considering a camping trip in the ADK's, you cannot go wrong with this campground. It is close enough to drive to Lake Placid and or Old Forge. Great location, great scenery, and a great little town.

This "lake", the highest lake source of the Hudson River, is nestled between Mounts Gray, Skylight, and Marcy, respectively the 7th, 4th, and highest peaks in the Adirondacks. From the Long Lake end, it's a 16 km hike, one way, from the trailhead after a 45 min drive from Long Lake, so it's recommended only for fit hikers who can endure a 10-14 hour day along wilderness trails that can be quite treacherous in places when the weather is wet and/or cold.

The Long Lake Town Beach is located at 1258 Main Street. In the summer months Red Cross Certified Lifeguards on duty at our free public beach. Public restrooms are available as is free wifi, but the best part is the swim dock boasting mini-trampoline, rope swings and a slide. Annual activities at the beach include the 4th of July Celebration, Music by the Lake Concert Series, Waterski Show, Paddling Olympics, Long Boat Regatta, Swimming Races and so much more. The Town of Long Lake Parks and Recreation Department maintains the beach. Visitors can enjoy sitting in the shade of the gazebo or on our Adirondack chairs overlooking the majestic Seward Mountain Range at the northend of Long Lake, NY. Free parking. Free Wifi. Cell phone service is available.

Long Lake was a destination along a foliage tour, searching the Adirondacks. There is parking available along both sides of the road, leading directly to the beach. The views are majestic with the contrast of blue water, various hues of crimson, cyan, magenta, and lime during peak foliage. The main street (where the beach is located) hosts antique shops, restaurants, and tourist information. There is also a seaplane that departs from this area (as seen in one of the pictures.) I would highly recommend this stop for any nature lovers.

Get to see the best of beautiful Long Lake and surrounding mountains! Captain does excellent job narrating in an accurate historical and geographic manner. 2 hour boat ride takes you along old historic camps with the background of mountain ranges. Unforgettable scenery.
