The old Spanish Mission is a State Park. There is a newish museum by the parking lot. The mission buildings were restored by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s largely using the original building methods (with added rebar!). The guided tour takes about 90 minutes an the 'interpreters' are very knowledgeable. One gets a great sense of the history of the place.

Always wanted check this Beach out . The drive is like everyone says....long and windy and hope you don't get stuck behind somebody super slow. Both days there the wind blew stiff off the ocean all day until the Sun went down. Phone service is zero , you have to drive about 1/2 out to get reception. They have a Store and Restaurant but all we got was 2 Ice Cream's and they were $7....Yikes ! It's best to remember to bring everything and double check if you go there. Basically for us it wasn't anything special there and the coast has way too many other beaches that are more easily accessible.

Lompoc Wine Ghetto

The Lompoc Wine Ghetto is a loose collection of wineries, including many production facilities. This unique two-block industrial complex has been almost completely taken over by the wine industry. Its seventeen tasting rooms represent more than 20 local brands. You won't find great estates with rolling hills here, nor opulent tasting rooms with soaring ceilings. What you will find is world-class wine, presented in a laid back atmosphere. Often the tasting rooms are inside production facilities, so don't be surprised if the person doing the pouring is also the person that made it. Come spend a weekend with us tasting exceptional wines in this very non-traditional setting. If great wine is what you seek, come pound the pavement for a while and discover the treasures of the Lompoc Wine Ghetto.

The Lompoc Wine Ghetto is located on the outskirts of the city of Lompoc in an industrial warehouse park. Lots of very good wineries specializing in grapes grown in the Santa Rita Hills. Pali, Tyler, Fiddlehead and Zotovich are some of my favorites. No problem with parking. Most of the tasting rooms are only open on Friday thru Sunday.

I am a winegrower and winemaker and have been interested in wine for over 30 years. I have been to wineries all over the U.S. as well as other countries. This the most educational, enlightening and enjoyable wine experiences ever! History, geology, comedy, literature and wine making all in one non-snobbish wine tour. Even if you are not into wine you will enjoy this. Sheep, chickens, dogs and olive trees. Did I mention this is a vineyard yet? Fantastic wines, cheese, coffee and olive oil. No high pressure sells either. The wines sell themselves. Disc golf and bocci too. Beautiful location also-"where the summer meets the sea". We bring our friends here and they are blown away. Don't miss it. Oh yeah, the wines are incredible too! Cheers

Babcock is definitely worthy of a stop while wine tasting in Lompoc. It's one of the oldest wineries in the region and has stood the test of time. It's a stone's throw away from Melville. Babcock has an amazing tasting room full of vinyl records and vintage furnishings; it's a hipster's paradise with delectable wine. While tasting wine, I wasted the afternoon away enjoying not only the amazing wine but the ambiance of the tasting room and vineyard. Prices are reasonable. Babcock is definitely underrated and a little secret gem in wine country.

The facility is beautiful. The staff is very knowledgeable about the terroir and the wines. it is basically a Burgundian house (pinot noir and pinot chardonnay) with added Syrah. There are a number of vineyard specific bottlings. Well worth trying and tasting. Use the dump buckets.

What a beautiful location, and a charming tasting room. We stopped there while on a visit to Solvang over Christmas. It was cold outside, but they had the fireplace cranked up, with comfy leather chairs pulled up in front. I said we'd like to try a glass of their best selling wine, but said that I was not really a red wine drinker. So they poured us half a glass of their pinot noir, then split it into 2 glasses so my husband and I could both try it. We enjoyed it so much that we wound up buying a bottle, which I will share with the hubby. I can no longer say I'm not a red wine drinker - they have converted me!

This property of 1000 acres in the Santa Rita Hills provides an ideal climate for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with warming in the morning and then fog arriving from the ocean in the afternoon. Warm but not too hot for the grapes. The tasting room is a beautiful setting to enjoy the fine wines from Sanford. We sampled some very good wines and purchased some of their new bubbly, a rose and a variety of pinot noirs. Chris was very well informed and a wonderful host. This was one of the better wine tasting experiences we have had and in such a pleasant setting. We would like to return when it is a little warmer and to bring picnic items with us. Sanford's wines are a treat that we will be enjoying when we return home.

Dierberg Vineyard

Only 7 miles West of Buellton lies the beautiful Sta. Rita Hills AVA. You will find our Tasting Room here among the vines of this temperate appellation. Just make a right onto Drum Canyon Road and you will leave the hustle and bustle of HWY 246 behind you as our rural road directs you 1/4 mile down to our rustic barn. We are fortunate enough to taste wines from our Sta. Rita Hills, Santa Maria Valley and Happy Canyon Vineyards. All of our properties are Estate Grown and speak of their individual terroirs. We are open 7 days a week (closed on certain holidays--please call our direct number for inquiries) from 11am-5pm and are dog friendly. Come in for a tasting at the bar or enjoy a more leisurely experience on our patio where we offer cheese plates Thursday thru Sunday and bottle service daily. Hope to see you soon!

We've been club members for several years and love to meet friends for wine and snacks on the beautiful patio. Now they've redone the barn area and have lots of indoor seating for those chillier or hotter days. Plus bonus: your dog can come inside too! The wines are excellent with the Pinot being a favorite. And if you're lucky they'll have a bottle of Astral open for tasting, it's to die for!
