A Dollhouse Museum that is an amazing way to share social history. Study fashion, design, people, historic events from the 18th C. to the present, all in miniature with incredible life-like detail. Really enjoyed the settings that told us about Kentucky's history (Shakertown, underground railroad and the tobacco industry).

Watch a sour mash ferment in giant cypresswood vats on its way to becoming that heavenly Kentucky bourbon at this distillery.
This is a beautiful campus WAY out in nowhere Kentucky. You really get the historic, non-corporate vibe at this distillery (even though their production is quite corporate).
We’re from Wisconsin, so alcohol isn’t a taboo thing like other states. I brought my 10 year old girls along and they appreciated the process and science behind Maker’s Mark. I figure there are chemical engineers, microbiologists, artists, marketers, accountants, etc on staff. It’s good to show them all the different jobs out there.
I highly recommend the tour.

Very glad we stopped here on our vacation. The tour/tastings were free. Our tour guide (Tom) was very entertaining, informative, and kind. He gave lots of history about the distillery and family, you would not receive at any other distillery in the area. Definitely worth the stop, and one of the better distilleries in the area in my opinion.

I took my granddaughter here. She enjoyed feeding the fish that ranged from minnow size to release size. We also enjoyed the informational museum. Some wild animals on display, like the skunk. Small gift shop inside as well. Free informational guides inside of museum on various different wildlife. It was a good place to visit.

Historic park that commemorates the scene of one of the bloodiest battles of the Civil War.
We visited here and found both the monuments and museum interesting. The docent was friendly and informative. The movie about the battle was a little long. The museum had some intersting interactive exhibits, note the attached photos. This place is so peaceful it is hard to imagine the bloody battle that took place here.

This park has had renovation's since my last visit. It has a beautiful stone walkway. The falls are gorgeous. The lake is a scenic view from the mill. The walking is very steep for anyone with walking difficulty. Enjoy your day here.

The Museum is on the north side of the road adjoining the National Cemetery, but you can see only a very small portion of the actual battlefield through one window. View the artifacts and exhibits, then take the drive around the battlefield sites to truly understand what happened here so many years ago. The confederates snatched defeat from the jaws of victory as they left a strongly fortified position to attack newly reinforced Union troops. Any chance they had was lost when the commanding officer General Zollicoffer rode into Union troops by mistake and was killed. This may be a minor site in the NPS system but the guy on duty was the most knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful I have ever encountered at any NPS site.

Who would think that a cute shop with local made soaps would thrive in this community. Granted, I am happy to see businesses making a success in small towns such as this. Too many times I have seen vacant storefronts in towns this size-very encouraging. They also have pottery, glassworks, jewelry, and books. I made a few purchases while here. It's in a cool, old building in downtown Stanford across from the Bluebird Cafe-a busy place. Although I ate somewhere else I must try the Bluebird on a return visit.

We have had the pleasure of working with Bill and Debbie for several events. They are wonderful owners who take pride in their property, business and wine making. They are hands on at every function, making sure everything is perfect for the customers and even the vendors. The grounds of the vineyard are stunning. The Pavillion is so unique to Kentucky, it transports you to another region and we love the addition of the Bridal house.
