A nice falls about 15 to 20 feet high. A short hike from parking lot, which is located on Highway US#2. There are a lot of steps involved in crossing railroad track.

Fantastic working cattle ranch!
My friend and I brought our horses with us when we stayed at McGinnis Meadows last week. We had a fabulous experience! The cabins are 5-star luxury complete with bathrobes, slippers, beautiful amenities, comfortable beds and fantastic views just outside our door! The meals were well thought out with lots of choice of fresh salads and vegetables, pasta dishes, grilled meats and chicken, and home made breads and desserts. But lets get to the real stuff...the ranch itself is in a beautiful meadow and is well thought out, with indoor and outdoor riding arenas, well groomed trails and well maintained buildings. The wranglers and other staff are experienced riders who are well adept at keeping track of all horses and riders of all experience levels.
We spent a number of sessions improving our horsemanship skills with the owner and his wranglers, and it was well worth the time, my horsemanship improved over the week and my horse's expression did too. It was a pleasure to ride with people who were so knowledgeable and who had so much to offer in a manner that was easy to understand and implement! The other guests were all fun to be with and we enjoyed sharing the day's stories over dinner. I will definitely come back next year and bring a bunch of my riding friends. The quality of the guest horses is beyond comparison, they were all healthy, quiet, well trained animals who knew their jobs.

Going west, It is a long drive off the main road to the visitors center but It is well worth the stop. The center is also a museum and has displays that are interesting and delightfully presented. There are picnic tables and the grounds are very well groomed. The staff in the museum are extremely nice and helpful. The rest rooms are very clean and tidy. There is a small gift shop and Tours are available.

Kootenai Aviation, Inc., provides local scenic flights over majestic mountains and beautiful lakes near Libby in the Cabinet Wilderness Area. We also provide longer Air Tours including Glacier Park, regional excursion flights to Mt. Saint Helens and Mt. Rainier and Yellowstone Park, as well as Air Taxi Services in the Northwestern states. Rate is $235/hr, per flight, not per person.
Bill is an all-around class act! My family took a trip to Glacier in September 2015 and wanted to do an air tour as 2/3 of us are pilots. We originally intended to go through Canada and come back through Libby, but had a change of plans which put us in Kalispell instead. Bill met us at the Kalispell airport instead of making us drive to Libby, and was totally accomodating! The flight over the park was incredible, as well as the Bob Marshall Wilderness (The Great Wall and Dragon's Spine are well worth the extra cost). I compared several other companies in the area, and Kootenai is the lowest per person with an excellent and comfortable airplane to boot. The front seat also has a drop-down window, so serious photographers don't have to battle window glare while trying to get that perfect photo. On top of everything, Bill has done actual survey work in the area, and he knows the names of many of the features and has some colorful stories about the area. I would highly recommend this trip to anybody going to Glacier.

As you walk around (it's a round building), the exhibits keep on coming: mining and logging, early fire fighting, Libby's first newspaper, the Kootenai Indians, Montana wildlife, and a lot more. Outside there are displays with logging and mining equipment and more.
The price is right: admission by donation. But, they are closed for several months (currently September-Memorial Day), so check their website for their calendar.

If you are looking for steep, deep, and cheap, look no further. This mountain is truly a hidden gem located in northwest Montana. The mountain is only open Friday through Sunday so the powder stacks up for some unbelievable skiing. Also, if you want your own ski hill for a day, it is one of the only few resorts in America that you can rent for the day. This mountain truly is a place you should check out. You will not be disappointed.

Located 12 miles North of Libby, Montana the Kootenai Angler offers river front cabins, The River Bend Restaurant and the Kootenai Angler Fly Shop.
My first time to the Kootenai River.....
Our group spent 3 days fishing the Kootenai with Dave Backburn (Kootenai Anglers), and during that that time, I scored 30-40 fish days, all on top, hopper,....and one memorable bull trout (on a streamer)....saw maybe one other drift boat the entire time. Dave is the most accommodating, and easy to be with, guide I've encountered in many years of fly fishing...... low key, no pressure, but an expert guide/outfitter who knows this river and his bugs like the back of his hand. The "Koot" is a classic, big water, Montana River, chosen for its scenic beauty by Hollywood for the filming of "The a River Wild" (Meryl Streep), and currently filming "The Revenant" (Leo DeCaprio). The Kootenai Falls are breathtakingly beautiful. The rental riverside log cabin we had is walking distance to the fly shop/restaurant and was pristine clean, a full kitchen, stone fireplace, 2Br+ loft, etc., etc......a very comfortable mountain retreat. The onsite restaurant was outstanding with a variety of offerings to suit every taste....recommend the grilled prime rib! I will do this again and I think all the members of my fly fishing group would say the same!

A nine-hole course with wonderful views.
Went here with my family and just took in the Driving Range. This was my first time, and it was a lot of fun. I am not much of a golfer but the view is so beautiful that you can't help but love golf. A great place to take in the sights even if you are not the best golfer.

Small roller rink with black lights, disco lights and lots of fun music and games. We skated and played arcade games priced as low as a quarter. Pizza and corn dogs were available as well as soda and candy. Our group had a great time and the operators were helpful and gave us lots of information on the local area.

This scenic route follows MT37 for about 66 miles between Libby and Eureka, following the shore of Lake Koocanusa almost the entire way. It's a long thin lake in a valley between mountains covered with evergreens. There are many opportunities to pull over and enjoy the views of the lake and National Forest. The road is two lanes and was in decent repair in July 2017. We drove through on a Monday morning in July and there was no traffic at all. There were a few curvy sections but nothing extreme. We stopped at Libby Dam as a rest stop, where there is a visitor center with tours (see separate listing). We really enjoyed the drive and were glad we took "the road less traveled".
