Midway between Inverloch and Leongatha and set in magnificent natural bush, Leongatha Golf Club is a beautiful 18 hole all weather course designed by H. Vernon Morcom, who with his brother were the course architects for many of Australia's top golf courses, Vern was also the superintendent for Kingston Heath Golf Club from 1928-67. Rated in the top 100 public access courses in Australia, the 18 holes at Leongatha are varied and challenging. No matter the number of players, the course retains a sense of quiet seclusion. Wide santa ana couch fairways provide excellent all year playing conditions and are flanked with magnificent trees rising from the natural bush that supports a variety of local flora and native animals. A 3 year program converting all fairways to santa ana couch was completed in the summer of 2006-7. This has further enhanced the course's reputation as being one of the very best in rural Victoria. A number of the large greens are protected by newly designed bunkers and spectacular vistas of the rich surrounding countryside emerge at differing vantage points around the course.
This Vern Morcom designed course is set in natural bushland and offers many great views over the surrounding farmland. Wide, immaculate santa Anna couch fairways are a feature of the course and are the equal of many big name city courses. However, it pays to stick to them as an errant shot will put you into rough that has a habit of swallowing golf balls! The greens are small and well maintained and provide a good golfing challenge. Many are surrounded by bunkers that will put your short game to the test! The clubhouse staff were friendly and all told it was a great day's golf. Could highly recommend as a challenging course in great condition. Well done Leongatha GC!

Planted on the outskirts of Leongatha overlooking Knox's Hill - a distinctive old volcano, the vineyard is planted on red volcanic soil (Ferrosols). The soils play an important role in the quality and characteristics of fruit grown. The red volcanic soil is very fertile and high in organic matter. Growing Premium Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Shiraz from 25 year old vines. Open for lunch December through to March Friday, Saturday and Sunday cooking Gippsland Gourmet Pizza from 12 to 3pm. Open 7 days in January while hosting a Sculpture exhibition from local Gippsland Artists. Please phone for a tasting appointment mid week 0439.337.270
Stopped for lunch amongst the beautiful vineyard. We sat outside under the sun umbrella. The restaurant had very tasty pizzas and a sumptuous farmers platter for 2. Rosè was perfectly chilled for the warm weather. The staff is extra nice and accommodating. We reached early as the restaurant was setting up, saw the staff COVID clean every surface with soap water. We were family of 3 (21yo son) and z beagle. We all had a great time. We'll definitely visit Lucinda Estate again

The Great Southern Rail Trail extends from Leongatha to Toora (75km). The mostly flat or gently undulating trail goes through lush dairy farmland, areas of remnant bush and lowland scrub. It climbs from the foothills of Fish Creek up past Mount Hoddle and then down a steep descent through dense forest out into magnificent views of Wilsons Promontory and Corner Inlet.
This is a lovely section of the trail. Easy riding or walking with great parking at either village. Food and drink available as well as toilets. Parks to sit and relax at both villages. There was new road works going on to take out the Black spur section of road, but with stop go in place on the trail l was not severely inconvenienced.

Well blow me down...when I went looking for this park...I most certainly was not expecting what I found in a country town. When I arrived at this beautiful park , it was an overcast morning. It was easy to park and then I went for a walk through the park. There are undercover BBQ areas and toilets. There is a gated playground and beautiful extensive green areas to play or picnic on. I went for a walk around the park and it's really serene with a beautiful native landscape. This is an exceptionally well presented park in Leongatha which offers something for all ages.
