Walk over the frozen sea and view Lulea from the seaside. Great experience and one of the highlights in Lulea in winter.

This space holds a guitar similar to the one Keith Richards used to play the Honky Tonk Women riff. And here's one like the one Eric Clapton used for his solo in Layla. And the kind that Jimi Hendrix set on fire in Monterrey. But how in the world did these and hundreds more rare and priceless guitars from the 1950s and 1960s end up in Umea and become Guitars - The Museum? Why aren't they hanging in the MoMA in New York, or in the Tate Modern in London? This is the story of how the Ahden twins from Vannasby managed to put together the world's finest collection of vintage guitars surreptitiously, almost in secret. Guided tours 12.00, 15.00 & 17.00.
I wasn't sure I wanted to go, as I feared looking at a bunch of guitars would be boring (no matter how old and unique they were). I finally went as my airbnb host insisted that it was something not to miss. I was pleasantly surprised: I arrived in time for the guided tour, and got a glimpse of the crazy stories around some of these guitars, thanks to a very knowledgeable guide. Never got bored. Even if you're not passionate about guitars, I would recommend a visit!

If you are in to trekking and mountain hike, this is the place. One of the most beautiful places in Lapland. Plenty of well marked trails to follow. The "Kings Trial" Kungsleden starts here at the Abisko Turist station.

Of Sweden's 71 original church towns, only 16 are left today. The majority of these have been reduced to a remnant. Gammelstad has the country's largest and best preserved church town with 408 cottages comprising 553 rooms. The church town presumably arose from a combination of several factors: the long distances, merchants' needs for storage and accommodation at the marketplace, the church stables and last but not least the population's duty to attend church regularly. Gammelstad Church Town was put on the UNESCO World Heritage List on 7 December, 1996. Visit Gammelstad Visitor Center for more information. Visitor Center offers information, exhibition, slideshow room, souvenirshop, audioguides and guided tours of Gammelstad Church Town.
It was awesome to go around and listen to the tour, very vivid. The tourist information personnel was very friendly and helpful!

Kiruna Church is a big and beautiful wooden church in the heart of the city. Build between 1909-1912 it's one of the biggest wooden buildings in Sweden. 2001 it was voted the most liked building in Sweden. The altarpiece is work of Prince Eugen Napoleon Nicolaus of Sweden and Norway, Duke of Närke. Definitely worth a visit.

Come along to the world’s largest underground iron-ore mine. We go by bus directly from the Tourist Center into the mountain and down to the show mine LKAB’s Visitor Centre at level 540 metres. Here in Kiruna much revolves around our mine. The guide will talk about modern mining and how it can cause a whole town to be moved. Coffee and cookies will be served in the cafe. A warm welcome!
Finally we got to visit one of the classic Swedish industrial sites, the large mine at Kiruna. The tourist bureau organises tours twice a day that last for close to three hours. You go down to the -500 level where there is a centre. Your guide then tells you all about the mining operations, its history, present plans and the methods used. There is a small museum and lots of heavy equipment. You get coffee and a cookie with your ticket.
