We highly enjoyed our experience here with some Florida friends. They wanted to zip and these guys are willing to zip in the cold. So let’s do it! This course is first class. I’ve zipped many places and found this course to be quite exhilarating. It’s so awesome to zip across the valley. Thanks to our charming, comical guides, and very cool course design, the day was epic. Can’t wait to return.

Rising Park is a pleasant and beautiful park near the fairgrounds. It is also the gateway to the trail to go up Mt Pleasant. There are fishing, picnicing, hiking, birding, tennis, and playground opportunities. Shelter houses are available for larger activities. Many people just enjoy cruising through the park in their cars or on their motorcycles. At Easter time, there is a service at the top of Mt Pleasant. This lovely park is one of Lancaster's gems.

The Sherman House Museum in Lancaster, Ohio is the birthplace of General William Tecumseh Sherman and his younger brother U.S. Senator John Sherman. This 1811 home features an outstanding Civil War exhibit and Sherman family treasures. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Civil War Preservation Trail and has been a memorial to the family since 1951. The museum gift shop features Civil War and local history books as well as puzzles, games and more.
Being a Civil War buff, a had only moderate expectations about what I would find at this museum. I was, however, pleasantly surprised by the amount of historic items, portraits and genuine personal artifacts relating to W.T. Sherman, that they had on display. The tour guide was very informative and he took the time to answer all questions asked, still keeping the tour to about one hour in length. I learned a lot about a man, and his rather famous family, that I didn't know before the tour.
There's lots of street parking in and around the museum.
Definitely worth a stop if your're interested Sherman, the Civil War or the history of one of the more notable families in Ohio.

We were not sure what to expect when our friends invited us to the brewery. It's nestled in the countryside of the greater Lancaster area in a restored farmhouse. It's an ideal setting for an evening out with wonderful views. They had six beers on tap but the remaining choices came from large bottles with a cork, my first time with beer brewed that way. The service was very friendly and personable. We were glad we checked their website because it was bring your own food. Due to the nature of the restored farmhouse there are several low beams and a couple uneven spots on the floor. They have a second and a micro 3rd floor but you have to go down to the main floor to get your beers every time. A very enjoyable evening with friends and a definite visit if you're in the greater Lancaster area.

The Decorative Arts Center of Ohio is located in Lancaster, Ohio, just southeast of Columbus. The museum offers tours of the historic Reese-Peters House, art classes for all ages, public programs and three art exhibitions annually.
My daughter attends Kent State University and we are always on the lookout for fashion exhibitions. We were both extremely excited when we learned of the Edith Head exhibit. It was amazing! The tour guide was extremely informative and loved having the iPads available to learn even more about each costume as well as being able to see the costume in the movie. Thoroughly would recommend the visit!

Stopped by here with some friends for a wine tasting. It was a cute place with a nice view, friendly knowledgeable staff and good wine. I'm not normally a white or sweet wine drinker, and that is mostly what they had, but their wines were...MoreThank you for taking the time to review the winery! We are very glad you enjoyed. More red wines are coming, we are working hard on it! See you soon we hope!

We needed a fun 'rainy day' adventure while we were visiting Hocking Hills. We decided to take a glass blowing class at the Ohio Glass Museum. Our instructor Theresa gave us very good guidance and direction as we 'blew' our own glass witch balls. It was very entertaining and a fun experience...

My husband and I had visited here when we lived in Lancaster over 10 years ago. We visited last night for our 16-year wedding anniversary! It was great before, but exceptional now. I was so happy with the recently painted bathrooms and concession stand. There were three movies on the schedule as the sun is starting to go down earlier in the evening! Of course, we couldn't outlast the third movie. The food choices are vast which is good for patrons, but doesn't seem like a good business model. Everyone there was friendly including the patrons who kept noise to a reasonable level and left quietly and without their headlights on. Of course, we brought blankets, extra snacks and very comfy chairs. The air was crisp. We love drive-ins. But, this one is the best. I would note that the management (described in a previous post) was a little curt and very loud. But, it didn't ruin our wonderful night.

The Georgian Museum is located in one of Lancaster's three National Historic Districts, and exemplifies early 19th century American craftsmanship. Built originally for Samuel and Sarah Maccracken in 1832 by local builder Daniel Sifford, the home embodies features of both Federal and Greek Revival architecture. The structure is unlike any other built by Sifford, with its double-curved wall along a two-storied portico supported by fluted Ionic columns and windows that opened to the floor for access to the veranda. Throughout the house twelve-foot ceilings draw attention to stunning woodwork, archways and chandeliers. Rooms have been restored to reflect the period of the Maccracken's residence from 1832 to 1852, with appropriate wall and floor coverings, and historic furnishings, including many pieces made in Fairfield County during the first half of the 19th century.
Nicely restored, but a bit disappointed that there was little original furniture in it. The docent kept giving long explanations of where they acquired each piece, really didn't care where they came from....let me enjoy them!
