Monesteroli

Reviewed By GiorgiaCstrg - Italy, null

Do you remeber the wolf in the Disney's movie "The sword in the stone?" Well, that's was me on my way back to the car. But Monesteroli is really worth it. The view is stunning and once you reach the end of the stair you can swim in the sea and chill. I recommend trekking in warm but not hot months; so May,early June, September & October (according to the weather) are perfect.

Museo Tecnico Navale della Spezia

Head upstairs for the collection of ships figureheads. Head through the room with lots of guns and torpedoes in it to the very interesting display of early (1969) diving technology. There’s a short film showing each technique in action. This is well worth the small entry fee. The wooden figureheads are a superb extra.

The location of the castle is excellent for a panoramic view of the port facilities and the Gulf of La Spezia. Converted into a museum, the castle has several collections of archaeological artifacts from the Roman and earlier era. There are many systems of tiers to reach the castle, but also a system of 2 public lifts at the end of Via Indipendenza, in 2 sections, which make it easier.
