We took the night tour and was completely mesmerized by Hafiz's magic. You have to go to experience it yourself and it is worth every penny and second. We might try the daytime mangrove tour. The river is very pleasant and lovely nature.

A blast from the past, a town that is truly frozen in time a good stopover if you are a history buff. Taking in the whole town and after visiting the tin mine will really give you an appreciation and respect of these people whose livelihood were dependant on the mining industry.

Very nice beach, empty during the day with some nice local food outlets - well worth walking along the bridge to the second, smaller bay for a swim...

The place opens at 9am so go early to avoid the crowd and the heat. The water is clear and cool and the waterfall beating on your body provides a great massage. Be careful with small children as the water does suddenly get deep at various places. The new SOP is observed quite strictly here with good reason. Everyone has to register and have their temperature taken at the guard house before entering. Parking space is ample. There are also stalls selling finger food in case you get hungry after your swim. My family and I went on a weekday so we were lucky not to be bombarded with a huge crowd. Easily spent an hour here, just enjoying the cool water and then soaking up the sun on the many rocks nearby. Cleanliness is maintained too, hopefully all visitors will continue to keep this lovely spot clean.

most of the east coast is a long straight beach and much of it a bit dull and much of it has loads of plastic washed up at the tideline. Cherating is in a proper bay with an attractive headland at the northern end. its a good surf beach and when i was there although the waves were less than a metre they were amazingly powerful. part of the village are a bit run down but this is an interesting spot to chillout at.

A very simple excursion. Book up-front (we did earlier the same day), turn up at the allotted time (in early evening before it gets dark) and get a bucketful each of 16 or so one-week old baby turtles to release on the beach close to the water. A lovely experience, and a good cause, in them protecting and coaxing the eggs into healthy little creatures. Take time to visit the Sanctuary during the day too. They are doing some renovation/development work now (Aug 2019), but the small museum is very informative. And free of charge, but please do leave a donation ;-)
