This area is famous in Japan and the world for its purity of water, so it is only fit to visit the local sake brewery to learn about their traditional brewing method, taste and buy some products. The owners of this brewery where there the day I visited and were wonderfully friendly. I was given a short tour of the brewery process, got to eat some of the very expensive sweet potatoes and walked away with some exclusive bottles of sake and shouchu to enjoy when I returned home.

In this lake area are a number of activities a tourist can explore. There are a few options for accommodation from camping, log cabins to the ultimate traditional Japanese Thatch House Rental, with a private restaurant where your meals are served. There is also an onsen 'hot springs' for soaking your body. The staff are very friendly and kind. Across the the onsen is the areas sake brewery. Here you can buy some local sake, shouochu to take home, or drink while staying in the area. The owners will kindly offer if you want to see the unique process of brewing, worth seeing. Also you can walk over the long suspension bridge looking over Mamako Falls, don't forget to add the crossover fee.
