I love the art this month. I stop by regularly to see what’s new. It’s always changing. It’s such a nice addition to the downtown.

This is always a must stop for me each time we visit the area. There is always a changing display on that deals with local history plus there is the usual exhibit of local items of historical importance. The staff here are amazing and helpful. They are very knowledgeable about the area and will answer questions you have relating to the history of the valley. In addition their genealogy center is excellent with fully developed family histories for many of the settler families. If you have Nova Scotia Planter ancestors they will provide you with a certificate when you have your family connections completed.

If you go in the winter, be prepared to use ice cleats. The first part of the trail is steep and when we went it was almost all ice covered. Using ice cleats we made it down with no problem, but without them it would have been treacherous. Once at the bottom, the trail follows a nice little stream running between steep hills with old growth trees. It is quiet and peaceful. It is a walk in- back out trail, so you see everything twice, but it is worth the walk.

Park and enjoy a short walk down to the water. Sit on rocky beach area or explore the water and rocks Loved walk around here when the tide was out. Always plays with your mind seeing how much change happens in an hour Would highly recomend a good pair of shoes to explore. Check daily tide schedule

Kentville library to re-open in newly renovated space Oct. 19 KENTVILLE, NS - A year after moving to its new location at 440 Main Street, the Kentville library will soon relocate to its permanent home upstairs in the same building. The former St. Paul and St. Andrew United Church space has been fully re-purposed to fit the needs of its new tenant, its staff and clients.
The atmosphere in this converted church building is so welcoming that you can spend literally hours browsing through the stacks and seeing what is on offer. I completely lost track of time—not a bad thing, really—and when I returned to the here and now, I resolved to come back soon and do the same thing again! The staff is efficient and approachable as well as being knowledgeable about the space and contents.

"Dr. Apple" is a sculpture of Eaves. The sculpture consists of the bronze figure, apple barrels and stacked apple crates. The barrels and crates have inscribed plates describing Eaves' research. The sculpture was commissioned by Allen Eaves to commemorate his father's work at the Kentville Agriculture Centre that extended the storage life of apples and other fruit.
Nice place to stop and from here I walked along the Harvest Moon trailway into downtown Kentville and back to the car. Eaves Hollow park is located just at the border between the towns of Kentville and New Minas. The Kentville Agricultural Station is located just across the road from this park. Btw I have driven into the KAS to look at the beautiful rhododendrons in June. There is no charge to drive in. It was interesting to see the statue of Charles Eaves in Eaves Hollow park. He was a Canadian scientist who worked at the KAS and he extended the storage of apples by controlling levels of oxygen and carbon dioxide. His research established storage methods that were adopted worldwide. Eaves Hollow park has a parking lot, a picnic table and tools for fixing your bike.
