It took George H.W. Bush to make Kennebunkport known to most of the country, but New Englanders have enjoyed this quiet coastal Maine town for years. In hot weather, beaches are a major draw, but Kennebunkport's many small boutiques, art galleries and restaurants make a visit fun at any time of year. Inveterate shoppers may want to combine a visit to Kennebunkport with a trip to nearby Kittery, where dozens of outlets and factory stores offer plenty of bargains.

The oceanfront home of former President George Bush.
Summer home of two Bush Presidents - lots of history and a place for great picture taking; it can be busy so wait patiently for a safe parking place.

St. Anthony's Monastery is situated on a 66 acre estate with lovely rolling lawns, riverside walking paths and English Gardens.
This location has lovely walking trails throughout, and takes a gentle slope down to the water where you can see the tidal flow and the boats.

The shoreline of this popular swimming beach is dotted with large granite rocks.
My favorite beach here. I love to walk my dog and have him play with other dogs on the beach. And it's a great way to meet other people who are both visiting or live here.

Quiet and family-oriented Maine beach.
Goose Rocks Beach is undoubtedly one of the nicest beaches in the Northeast. It is truly a family beach with soft sand and a protected shore that allows small children to play in the water without massive waves. The water temperature is not as low as you might think - it's very enjoyable and refreshing, even for grandparents! Sand Dollar Real Estate is the place to go to find convenient rental properties. They are amazingly helpful and have a large stock of vacation properties (of every kind and description). Check out their webisite.

This scenic drive in Kennebunkport passes by former President George Bush's summer home.
Beautiful homes on one side of the road and the mighty Atlantic Ocean on the other side with the Bush compound and charming St Ann’s church thrown in for good measure.

Located off Ocean Avenue, this popular walking path winds along Kennebunkport's rugged and scenic coastline.
Ok so I was a bit confused about Parsons Way and Ocean Ave. I realized that Parsons Way is Ocean Ave. It's a part of the coastline that a man donated to Kennebunkport. It's not a separate trail. It is a must do walk. I recommend walking since the road has cars on it and it's pretty narrow meaning bikes often are right up to the sidewalk. Also on foot you can really enjoy the coastline, St. Ann's church, the gorgeous houses finally ending at Walkers point. It only took us about an hour to walk up and back to Colony beach (also on Ocean Ave)

Driving along the ocean, you can come across this monument dedicated for former President of the United States George HW Bush. The view of the residence with the rocks and the ocean is quite spectacular.
