The Wakhan Corridor or Valley stretches from Khorog to past Langar, along the Panj (or Amu Darya) river which forms the border between Tajikistan and Afghanistan. The river itself is green/turquoise in color due to the minerals it carries, and the landscape along this valley is spectacular in both countries. We were on the Tajik side, and along the alley, you get hot springs (Bibi-Fatima, Garam Chasma), ancient fortresses (Yamchun), ancient Buddhist Stupkas (at Vrang), Museum at Yamg and great farming etc etc. This is definitely a must do

This lake resides in a high altitude basin with no drainage. It is surrounded by mountains which provide a beautiful backdrop as they are covered with snow. We walked near the lake. Beware: the silt of the lakeshore is very sticky and almost impossible to remove from shoes.

Hissar Fortress (3000 years old) — located 26 km from Dushanbe (West). The fortress is an open-air Museum. A number of legends from the work of A. Firdousi "Shahname"are connected with the Hissar fortress. Hissar is the capital of the province of Eastern Bukhara and was in the hands of the Governor of Emir Ibrahim Bey until 1924, when he was defeated by the red army.
Beautiful and gorgeous place. Pakistani traveler exploring the world. Pakistani traveler in central Asia.

Garm Chashma is really something. In the bright August sunshine, this place shines like a diamond - I recommend you bring sunglasses! Cover yourself in the white mud and dip in the hot spring. It's soothing and does leave your skin feeling really smooth and looking radiant. The legend is that it cures skin ailments, and I believe it. It's located pretty centrally to a few restaurants as well, so you can take a long soak in the hot springs and then eat plov or soup and drink tea.
