Lake Plastira

Reviewed By amantzou - Athens, Greece

One of my favorite mountain destination at any time of the year. Surrounded by 18 villages, is certain that beauty in combination with the great accommodation in lodgings will make your days very interesting and beautiful also. At Kalivia Pezoulas you can do horse riding, archery and canoe-kayak. Many good dining options in the areas tavernas. I recommend Plastira Lake for calm and relaxion.
Tip: At the Autumn and winter the fog hides the lake view.

Pafsilipo Park

Reviewed By Lucian M - Constanta, Romania

I visited Karditsa town several times in the last couple of years. This is because from here I can reach, relatively easy, the Plastiras Lake and all beautiful mountain villages around it. But another reason is Pafsilipo Park. The main attractions of this park are the peacocks. They strolling free all around the park, they are used with people and become interested very soon about you if you have at hand some bred, or biscuits, or … something. It is very nice to walk among them! The park is nice, clean and quite big for a town as Karditsa. Here you can walk or use a bicycle, which is great for a nice afternoon.

Fanari Castle

Reviewed By Tomek86 - Copenhagen, Denmark

This place was the highlight of my visit to Karditsa. It is an amazingly preserved castle and one of the nicest I have ever seen.
Me and my friend had an amazing tour around the castle- free of charge (only in Greek though).
We were very lucky to have been able to visit every corner of the castle since they are planning to to build fences, stairs etc.
Under the guides supervision we were allowed to go up to each tower and take photographs.
Really amazing place with a lot of history !

Koroni Monastery

Reviewed By Angela H - London, United Kingdom

A disappointment. This place was on route as part of our visit around this area of the Peloponnese. The monastery nun's supply cover up items of clothing, but there wasn't anything to see, apart from a church on the grounds. It was located up a narrow road and steep steps up. If I never visited, I wouldn't have missed anything. Photo opportunities are of roof tops... Not outstanding.

While in Thessaly one of the plans was to visit Loutra Smokovou and the thermal springs- spa.
When me and a friend arrived there it felt like a Walt Disney film, beautiful nature, fresh air, sound of river, Mountains and the pink building of the spa.
All the local hotels are in a stone's throw distance.
Thermal spa is opened only on weekends in the winter time and everyday in the summer season.
I can recommend it to anyone in the area. Just amazing.
