It is wonderful to walk on this mostly flat terrain and see people of all ages, shapes, and size taking advantage of this trail. It is well kept and has a covered pavilion thanks to the local Rotary Club for rest or picnic. Many bicycles and many more on foot. Even has mile markers to help with one's exercise progress. Friendly and even patrolled by the city bicycle police.

YeeHaw is hands down my favorite craft brew location. Love the environment, the staff is very knowledgeable-nice-helpful, and the craft brews are top notch! YeeHaw eighty, winter ale, and Velvet Charmer are my favorite.

While Winged Deer Park is a great location for a picnic (if you don't mind the sounds of traffic), the lake is extremely dirty. There is often a foul smell coming from the shore, and in the past, I have even witnessed a decaying animal on the edge of the water. If you ignore the main attraction of the park, then you can have a great time! With an area for volleyball, and a field for soccer/ ultimate frisbee, it is a fun place to hang out.

We have MANY fond memories of story time, summer reading programs and shows, and checking out lots and lots of books. I went recently to check out some books and was happy to see several of the same librarians working who were just as friendly and helpful as ever. Their online site provides so many resources that many are not aware of as well (if you have a library card with them) such as MANGO language learning and the ability to check out and download audio and ebooks (through Overdrive).

Johnson City is proud of its parks and for good reason. This particular example has a children's play area, a dog park (membership required but kids like to stand outside the fence and watch the dogs play) and a walking trail with great views of the mountains

The longest-running microbrewery in Johnson City, TN. Traditional and seasonal brews, experimental batches, and cask ales. All brewed one barrel at a time.
We love this place - the staff is wonderful. The beer variety is fantastic and what they brew in house is amazing Definitely give this place a chance if you are looking for some good, local fun.

We were staying with friends. We live in Blue Ridge, GA. They sent us information on several area hikes and we chose Buffalo Mountain. It was a cloudy day, so we missed the reportedly awesome views. But the wildflowers were amazing, especially the Lady Slippers. We followed the trail and got off track once near the end. I think we got on a discontinued trail and missed the official trail across the dirt road to Hartselle Holler. We figured it out and made it back to the parking area. It was a beautiful hike and we loved that it was a loop so no backtracking.

My wife Alice is writing a book about her parents' romance and marriage during WW-II, and is including an account of their lineage. Her dad was General James Baird Tipton, a direct descendant of Colonel John Tipton, whose home this was from 1784-1813. Colonel Tipton was an important figure in the early history of our country and played a major role in the politics of North Carolina and the organization of Tennessee into a state. The site itself is rich in history, marvelously well preserved, and expertly managed by museum director John Parrish and his staff. Check out the website at http://www.tipton-haynes.org/ : this is a MUST-SEE if you are in the area--in fact, it's well worth a detour even!! :^)

Interactive exhibits, programs, and events to stimulate discovery, thought, and understanding.
This place has been built with good intentions but needs some work. We enjoyed the two times that we visited (about one year apart). However, some of the exhibits do not work. There are some stations where kids are supposed to generate bubbles. However, these...MoreThank you very much for your review and especially for giving us specific things that need attention so we can address those quickly. We hope you will continue to visit!

This is a relatively small museum of railroad memorabilia. It has a children's playroom, a room with a number of layouts and cases of items from railroad collectors on display. There is also a hidden room, that is not well signed, but if you ask a volunteer, they will direct you to a large layout that is in the progress of being built. There is a train running but the exterior is still in the process of being decorated, but it is worth seeing so you will know what goes into making such a large layout. There is also a small table layout in the room. Worth going to if you are a railroad fan.
