Smugglers' Notch offers fun for the whole family no matter the season.
Started coming here in the 70's and it was always a great resort for families. I must add that I hadn't been here in 30 some years and the new corporate regiment isn't for me. its very obvious that the corporate influence has a bunch of your kids that can't make a decision and have to ask a supervisor for the littlest task decision. Its also intrusive, when you try to buy a lift ticket they ask so much personal info to obviously market hound you a few weeks after you leave. Its still a great mountain but this resort corporate thing is for the birds. We stayed at a great cabin down the road. As for the food, day one it was very good, the second day we ordered the same soups and wings, awful. But it was Christmas so maybe the good cook was off!

"Making Vermont Famous for Wine"Located in a restored 1875 carriage barn on our 4th generation family farm, the Boyden Valley Winery is steeped in the culture and agricultural heritage of Vermont's Green Mountains. From 8000 grapevines and 100 acres of maple trees we craft wines that feature only the finest locally grown fruit. The care with which we've nurtured the Boyden Farm for 100 years lends itself to traditional winemaking techniques, producing wines clean to the palate and balanced. We produce elegant, lively whites, and medium bodied reds full. Boyden Valley Winery is open year round and visitors are invited to come share our passion for making wine. Hours: Daily 10am - 6pm
The wine was just ok. The portions for the tasting was barely enough to determine if you liked it, and it was the most expensive tasting of the wineries that we visited in Vermont.

Smugglers' Notch Distillery® is a father/son partnership in Jeffersonville, Vermont. The distillery was founded in 2006 at the foot of the famed Smugglers' Notch, site of many a clandestine bootlegger's run through this rugged Vermont mountain pass. The smuggling route was actually first used during the 1800s to move goods during the trade embargo and then again in the 1920s to move liquor during prohibition. Today this enchanting area provides outdoor enthusiasts with a boulder-laden curved mountain road and caves to explore. Smugglers' Notch Distillery® provides Carefully crafted, award-winning spirits. Using the finest ingredients blended with pristine Vermont spring water, we make, barrel age, blend, and hand-bottle remarkably distinctive, spirits one small batch at a time.
The shop in conveniently located with parking. It is small, but has nice displays and accommodating staff. The tasting is $12 for four small pours (1/4 oz or so) and you can pick from 8 to 10 varieties. They explain each including the recipe, style, notes, etc. The spirits are good, but expensive. Small bottles and glasses, etc. are also available.

This narrow path through thousand-foot cliffs, once a smuggling route into Canada, is now a park used for biking, hiking, picnicking and rockclimbing.
We loved the ease of accessibility and immediate beauty that this park affords. Park on the side of the road and start hiking UP. A walking stick would be helpful. Sterling Lake is a gem and the whole area, being a ski resort, has lots of trails to hike.

End of vacation at Smugglers Notch included the people from Lajoie Stables and their ponies at the small fairgrounds. Friendly, smiling attendants were so nice and accommodating to all the small children. What a treat for my grandson who rode over and over again.

Vermont mountain resembling a person's profile.
We love skiing and we love skiing at Stowe Mountain Resort which comprises Mount Mansfield and Spruce Peak. It has great trails for everyone - green to double blacks. Because of its location it gets lots of moisture from Lake Champlain. It is easy to caress from Burlington’s BTV airport. About 45 mins to an hour with Blazer Cab flat rate for $80 or $75 cash. Get your flights right and you can ski both your day of arrival and departure. We like the Stowe Mountain Lodge for ski in ski out, and love the ski valet, plus they are pet friendly. There is a bus up and down the mountain you can track on the app RouteShout 2.0 so you don’t have to stand outside and freeze. We love Mount Mansfield and Stowe!

We booked a paddle boarding excursion the last week of July. Pricing was very reasonable for a two hour trip. There really wasn't much direction (other then dont go past the 4th bridge) or assistance but it was fine because we are experienced paddle boarders. It was definitely more challenging then I thought with many obsticals in the water and the occasional "rapids"
