Established in 2020, Rio Buffalo Outfitter’s staff enjoys helping folks discover the wonders of the Buffalo National River as well as the spectacular Ozark Mountains and streams surrounding the river. We do this by providing quality canoes, kayaks and rafts as well as shuttle services for not only paddling adventures but for hiking and mountain biking.

Yes, the name is a tad misleading, but it was still a great view and easy to access. We did not climb the tower but spent some time talking to other visitors. There were about 20 large stick bugs hanging out on the north wall of the gift shop that day that we enjoyed seeing. We went into the gift shop for some post cards; besides the usual "touristy" stuff they also have Arkansas-made jelly, cookbooks, etc.

We always shop at Emma's when in Jasper. This delightful place is is a consistent source of vintage treasure for me. The vibe is warm, and welcoming. The store is clean and organized. Her ever-changing eclectic selection of items are affordable, and in great condition. Despite the name of the place, Emma does not sell junk! Everything she offers for sale has a use, and my teenage kids and I have a lot of fun shopping there. Memorable purchases over the years have been: • a pocket combo microscope/telescope, • a huge antique hand-carved dough bowl, • multiple antique oil lamps, • vintage handmade baskets, • antique cast iron cookware, • vintage cookbooks, • astronomy texts (don't miss the book room!) • vintage kitchen utensils, • homemade lye soap, • an antique Brownie film camera. We've even found antlers for my dog to chew. Vintage, quirky, unique, or handmade by locals, you never know what you'll find at Emma's. And if you see something you like, you'd better grab it because it won't be there the next time you visit. My family can't go through Jasper without stopping at Emma's. Go to shop, and if you see Emma, take time to visit. We don't know her personally, outside of her shop, but I'm confident in saying you won't find a friendlier person for miles around. Highly recommended!

We stopped here and discovered this was the place to stop for any info needed on the Buffalo River area. They have a room of free brochures and booklets on every aspect you can think of. There is a great kids section. The museum also had a great overview of things you should be familiar with when hiking in the area. There are also huge fish tanks of local fish. This will be a regular visit before we go off waterfall hunting. The advice today was awesome.

My kind of place!!! No fanfare or modern day amenities. It's simply a beautiful drive down Arkansas county roads ending at a well-kept homestead. It's self-guided tour with basic informational signs. Directions: Best bet is get map from Jasper's Chamber of Commerce or ask locals and then follow map and signs (most phones have no service in this area) to Buffalo River - Erbie Campground. Signs for homestead are posted. (History tidbit...The homestead was built during the 1840s by Alvin and Greenbury Parker and then purchased by the Hickman Family in 1912. It remained in the family until the Buffalo became a National River.) And chance to maybe see local elk on the drive there!!!
