Powder Mountain

With over 7,000 acres of pristine terrain, we are a one of a kind winter adventure resort you have to experience to believe. Powder Mountain is renown for it's incredible powder skiing, 100% natural corduroys and the best cat skiing and heli skiing terrain around. With a throwback family feel and two acres per skier/rider, the slopes are never overcrowded. Known to locals as Pow Mow, this mountain provides a variety of terrain and opportunities for your first time on the slope grom, to the expert cliff dropping ripper.

Powder mountain is the best value is skiing in the USA that I've seen. Lift tickets at $79 and basic ski rentals at $26m compared to $99&$45 at snow basin, $132 & $40 at park city, $135 & 62 at northstar (lake Tahoe), $130 & $30 at Jackson hole and $179 & $57 at Vail!! this is an old school place the "lodge" facilities could have been from the 70's. the food was simple without a lot of selections, but the 4 of us thought it was good. We had burgers one day and burritos and quesadillas another day. the people were all very nice and helpful. We got the strong feeling most were local as were many of the skiers and snowboarders. now for the skiing; even though we skied over new years (30th, 31st & 1st), we skied onto the lift almost every time - we waited for maybe 4 chairs about 5 or 6 times. The mountain(s) are huge - the runs can be very long. They have no gondollas and only a couple fast lifts - the other lifts are old school and slower than most modern ones, but not so much so that it made a big diference. There is a nice variety of runs - good for my 14 year old who is at green/blue level with one or 2 blacks in him per day. They also have a huge amount of ungroomed/powder runs that meet back up with groomed runs. There is a giant amount of tree skiing available - we did quite a bit of it - albeit very slowly since we didn't rent helmets - it was gorgeous! Really fantastic skiing. It was our first trip to Utah and for other first timers - be aware of the crazy beer/liquor laws they have in Utah!

Our family decided to spend Christmas in Eden once again this year and was looking for a family (four adults) Christmas present that would be some fun. After doing a little bit of homework I decided on the wildlife snowmobile tour with Club Rec. As it turns out it was a great decision! The base location is actually about a 30-40 minute drive outside of Eden and well with the drive. This was basically a guided round trip cruise from their rental facility to a wildlife refuge and back on a snow-covered trail on a two person sled. While the wives were scared because they never been on sleds, they actually enjoyed the trial as it was very easy to navigate and smooth. Along the way we saw several deer and beautiful scenery. The pace is pretty slow on the way out with plenty of stops to take pictures. Once at the refuge you spend about a half hour there to warm up and then head back to the facility. On the way back the pace is much faster but will still stop when you see wildlife which was mostly deer on that day. The tour lasted about three hours which was about 30 minutes longer than what would have been ideal (coldness), but I’m also a Texan who freezes in 40 degree temperatures. Id suggest very warm gloves even though the sleds have heated handle bars. Overall it was a fantastic afternoon for two couples and a great alternative from the usual ski/board day. Highly recommend for something a little different especially if from a place where you don’t experience snowy winters.

Journey back in time to the days when the Dryosaurus roamed and the Tyrannosaurus rex ruled at this outdoor six-acre park that displays giant dinosaurs complete with sound effects like crashing trees and earth moving footsteps. The complex also includes a museum that features hands-on exhibits of the latest fossil finds from Utah and around the world.

This is a great place to take little kids to learn about dinosaurs, fossils, etc. My grandkids thoroughly enjoyed the exhibits inside as well as the life-size re-creations of dinosaurs outside. Good place for a picnic with your kids and the adults may learn something as well.

Diamond Peaks 6 Run Heli-Ski Tour

Reviewed By Progim - Montreal

Me and my family decided to book an Heli-ski day trip adventure with Diamond peaks in Ogden, Utah. (about 45 min. north of SLC). Diamond peaks is a family business, run by Craig (the father) who proved to be such a pleasant and wonderful person, dedicated to its guests. Craid and his staff did everything for our party to enjoy our day at it's best. After a warm welcome, we filled the paper work, got the safety meeting, had the fat skis checked and properly adjusted and there we were flying in direction of their own private ski terrain. The Heli droped us on a ledge along with our guide Casey..Then, the whole mountain was for us. Casey would guide us through the glades and forest but would still let us ski anywhere we wanted to. We did 6 runs for about 18,000 ft vertical. I wouldn't qualify this as an extreme adventure, I'd say any good intermediate skier can do it. Make sure to bring along; camera, sun screen and sun glasses. They provide plenty of water and treats on board of the helicopter and you get a full meal upon returning at the heliport at the end of the day.

Thanks to you Craig and to your team We enjoyed our day and hope to see you soon again.

Historic 25th Street

This was a great little downtown street, with restaurants, bars and shops. The problem is figuring out which of these things you're standing in front of - hence the recommendation to bring your phone. Very walkable, not too long of a street, so it's good for a couple of hours but no more, unless you're like my husband and me and find a barstool to perch on for a bit. :)
