I brought my senior leaders to this excellent museum in Horten, for a two hours guided tour in maritime history. The guide service was excellent! Eventhough I have served a lot of years in the Navy, there are always something new to learn. We finished the tour on board the submarine (Ex HNoMS Utstein). This is a place you must visit!

Pilgrims from all the Nordic countries came here. The Reformation in 1536 put an official stop to the catholic pilgrimages to Lovoya but people continued to come to the well and church for years on. The church was in ruins for many years until preservation and restoration was initiated in 1882 and it was reopened in 1950.
A very beautiful stone chapel with great history. If you ever get a chance to go inside - take it. It is very beautiful. The Olavsbrønnen (Olavs Well) Outside is a place people throw a coin in for good luck

The Borre Park has a vast numbers of burial mounds, many of them very spectacular. The site has been used for burials through a long time span, from the early Iron age, about 2000 years ago and continuesly used, almost up to our days. If you include the cemetery of The Pilgrimage Church of Borre.

Welcome to Midgard – the Viking era is here! Midgard Viking Centre offers knowledgeable and engaging guides who will take you through all our exhibits, the Viking Hall, the Borre park and the newly found Viking ship burial, combined with a great history lesson. Welcome to watch, read and use what you learn anout the Viking age with us. We wish to bring the Viking Age to life for our visitors. The center opened in 2000 and the Viking Hall opened in 2013, after finding evidence of possible guildhalls in the area in 2007. The center offers a great view of the majestic Borre park and mounds, which are the largest collection of monumental grave mounds from the Viking Age in northern Europe. The mounds in the Borre park were mentioned by Snorre Sturlason, who claimed that kings were burried here. The Viking Hall is a unique reconstruction of a royal guildhall from the Viking Age. Here at Borre chiefs and great men have lived and have been burried.
It was an arrangement for children in the Viking Garden/ Vikinghall and it a top arrangement with high activity for the children in learning new things, - fighting as a viking and to preper vikingfood.
