Eden Rift Vineyards

Under Vine Since 1849 - Eden Rift is among the oldest, continually producing estate vineyards in California. A remote, pacific refuge located under the shadow of the Gavilan Mountain Range, the estate rests on the San Andreas Fault and is part of the Cienega Valley AVA. Only 20-miles from the Pacific Ocean, this site benefits from an ideal, temperate maritime climate as well as the coveted calcareous soil requisite in the cultivation of vivid, energetic Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. An historic, head-trained block of Zinfandel, planted in 1906, still thrives outside the estate’s main residence, The Dickinson House, built that same year. Designed by famed architect Walter Burley Griffin, the Dickinson House is open for wine tasting; Thursday through Monday, from 11am to 4pm.

Great experience!!! We brought our young men's church youth group from Pacific Grove, CA here. We had about 22 people in the group total. The staff were friendly and well organized. They did a great job emphasizing safety and getting all the first-timers geared up and ready to go. They have a great covered space to have a picnic during one of the breaks between sessions. They have several different courses with a great variety of terrain and cover for different matches. There is a great system in place to emphasize good sportsmanship, clean language and maintaining a fun environment. I really valued this as our group had a mix of ages from 11 to 55+. All our group had a great time and we can highly recommend Tag Paintball.

Calera Wine Company

We were camping down the road, and there was nothing to do at the campground, so we decided to go to the wineries that were nearby, according to the paper they gave us at the campground. We had no expectations. First, the setting. As we took he turn and headed up the hill to the winery, we were stunned at how beautiful the views were, and were excited to sit in the outdoor patio overlooking the hills for our tasting. When we told them we wanted to taste outside, they poured all five wines and put them in a cute tasting tree for us to take to our table. Next, the wines. We were super impressed with the quality of the wines we tasted. We had two whites and three Pinot Noirs. We actually ended up purchasing 4 bottles of their “everyday” Pinot and two of their more expensive pinots that we really enjoyed. The pinots are very refined, balanced and not overly fruity like some California pinots from hotter climates can be. We also found out that this place is part of the Duckhorn family of wineries, so they are connected to several outstanding producers around California. If we are ever back in this area, I would definitely come back.

Wonderful place to visit. Families can spend the day, there's plenty for children and adults to do, fun things. Old timers will appreciate the farm equipment from olden times. The Zanger family has a real sense of humor. I'd like to take a tour and read a book about this place, Casa de Fruta, but apparently tours are not offered and a book has not yet been produced. I recommend Arcadia books as a start to get the history available for lovers of all things Casa de Fruta, you could call the book, Casa de History...

Northern California Renaissance Faire

Reviewed By Grrrebecca

My child and I camped at casa De fruta and walked to the fair. The booths, shows, parades, and wandering faire staff were all dedicated to maintaining the old English atmosphere. My child got to try out throwing knives and stars, shooting crossbows and bows, sword fighting instruction, and candle dipping. We saw jousting and other horse shows. The sword swallower, cydeshow Cy, was amazing and the fire swallower, Broon, was really fun! The food was delightful but pricey. There were a lot of attractions to separate you from your money but for the most part I thought I received good value. I do recommend getting cash before you go into the fair! The on-site atm charges 4.50. Most of the booths take plastic but some only take cash and sometimes you can get a discount for using cash. I have always loved ren faires and this is the best one I've been able to get to since blackpoint forest. My child is autistic and camping nearby relieved stress for both of us. That way we could leave and return later if it was overstimulating. The staff and the performers were very cool about my child talking loudly during their shows and included is in the performance.

Leal Vineyards

Reviewed By scoeyd - Reno, United States

Had the opportunity to visit the Leal Vineyards for the wedding of a family friend. WOW. What an incredible site! Beautifully maintained grounds & amphitheater-style "main" wedding venue, & the hall was perfect for a romantic & celebratory reception. Loved the twinkle lights over the wine barrels & the rustic charm of the whole place. Plus, loved the wines, esp. the Pinot Noir & Cabernet Sauvignon. Probably a little pricey, but it was a hosted bar, so drinking them for free was nice :)
