Where do you start? First, its huge, the selection of fresh fruits and vegetables unmatched in any grocery store, and the prices and quality make you want to take everything there home. The best bagels I've found in Costa Rica can be found here in the feria (but you'd better get here on Friday afternoon, because there are none to be had by Saturday morning). And everything is beyond fresh. The only problem is that I always buy more than I can possibly eat. Oh well - my compost pile benefits, which does also benefit me in the long run.

If you are in the Grecia area, it is a must see and very easy to find as it is the town center. Great park right across the street with several fantastic restaurants withing eye sight.

The story goes that the original cathedral burned to the ground in the mid 19th century, so parishioners rebuilt using pre-fabricated steel plates purchased in Belgium. The rust-red church is completely made of these plates with white filigree decorative elements. The interior is whitewashed which enhances the feeling of spaciousness. The white marble main altar is stunning. Many shrines and statues are objects of devotion for the faithful here. Overall, the cathedral is simply decorated and there is a sense of peace here. It doesn't take too long to visit. Enjoy!

We recently visited and initially were dismayed by big signs at the entry point saying they were closed and it was dangerous to press ahead. Nether the less we pressed on and found a local landowner has opened a new path to compensate for the other route which was damaged during Hurricane Nate. It was a moderate hike in and out and the reward at the falls was worth every step. I would say that anyone is reasonable shape should be able to do it, even accounting for slippery rocks at the bottom for the last 100 yards to the falls.
