Absolutely beautiful!! We have been here numerous times, and I love all of the changes that are being made. It’s small and cozy, but doesn’t lack things to see and enjoy. A good spot for a quiet stroll or time to just relax. It is also an active place with the community. Summer concerts or movies, exploration for kids and the Butterfly Flutterby is absolutely incredible, and an event we look forward to each year!

My wife and I were pleasantly surprised after discovering for our family visit to Dallas that Grapevine had so many wineries. After trying several on Main St. Umbra was the most impressive actual wine tasting room. There was a large group there but the staff took the time to explain where all the wine came from to my wife and I and felt very relaxed and enjoyed the lovely ambiance of the winery. Great selections. Everyone that came in were greeted warmly. Most of the wineries on Main St are more like a bar, which is fine if that's what you're looking for, but for the best wine tasting experience, we will return back to Umbra on our next Dallas visit.

9/11 Flight Crew Memorial

Reviewed By paulsY5534PS

Stopped to see 9/11 memorial while attending convention at Gaylord Texan a short distance away. I'm not sure why it's on an intersection in Grapevine other than the DFW airport is nearby. Anyway, I don't like scuplture that is all symbol and no realism. This installation has a nice balance of both elements. We do not see dead pilots or hijackers brandishing knives, but the slightly larger than life flight attendants and the young girl, while reprensentative of all aboard the fatal flights, are still recognizably human. We know they couldn't completely stop the tragedy, as the pieces from the Pentagon and the world trade center make uncomfortably clear, but they did the best they could to the very end. This is symbolized by the female flight attendant holding her hand up in a stop signal and shielding the young girl behind her. Police and firefighter memorials are located around the ouside ring of the larger sculpture. Later in the week I had a long layover in New York and was able to visit the world trade center memorial which brought this all home again. It was not the first attack on American soil (Pancho Vila raided Columbus NM, the Germans tried to destroy the statue of liberty in WW I which is why the torch was replaced and you can no longer go up it) but it was deadliest

I walked over to Grapevine Mills quite a bit whilst staying at the Hilton. Less than 5 minute walk and perfectly safe. Massive choice of shops to browse around. I liked Sun and Ski, Nike, Asics, Texas Treasures, Adidas, J Crew, Kate Spade and Coach. There were some great bargains as I was there for Thanksgiving week. I love the food hall - big choice ranging from pizza to Thai. The food hall is the perfect place to people watch. It’s a really happy environment. The best time to go is opening time. If you get there much later it can be heaving with people. I went for a stroll around it on Black Friday and it was absolutely packed - everyone had to go in a certain direction going round, but that was an experience for me, so I loved it. The Mall is set out like a big oval, and if you want to go for a walk, you can do a couple of loops to get your steps in. Great if it’s really hot or if you have not got a car to get to a walking area. Great place for strolling, shopping and eating.

Grapevine Lake

Reviewed By paulsY5534PS

Well, it is not one of THE Great Lakes far to north of Texas, but Grapevine is impressive in its own right. Many see it from the air on takeoff or arrival from DFW. On the ground, there are marinas and a large mall on one shore and several parks on the other. Just be advised, whether walking, jogging, or driving, you cannot simply continue along the shore from the Grapevine parks to reach the Gaylord Texan resort if you are staying there like I did. IThe Teaxan and its shore front events center is walled and fenced off so you have to either backtrack to the highway or the resort and convention center entrance to gain access to it or the other side of the lake. For less pretentious accomodations around the lake there are campgrounds and motels in Grapevine.

We got the package with the legoland and this was definitely our favorite part!! Very cool displays and the interactive (toy) sea turtle exhibit was very cool! I love sea turtles! Its very clean and the workers were so friendly and informative!! The top floor was down, something to do with power issues that morning so we weren't able to go upstairs but we were given tickets to come back no charge! Definitely worth it to checkout! It was me, my husband, and my son (12). We all enjoyed it!!

Great Wolf Lodge Waterpark

Reviewed By mareron1205 - San Antonio, United States

Our family consisted of a 7 yr old, a 2-1/2 yr old, their parents and 70+ grandparents. This is our r (the grandparents) first visit and we were delighted. Great Wolf has something to offer for everyone and is especially good at family activities. The pool area is a lot of fun for everyone, has life jackets in every area for the children, has a nice toddler area, a fun house, a lazy river, slides for all ages, a wave pool, a regular pool, an adult only hot tub as well as a family friendly one and I’m sure other things I’ve left out. Regarding the lazy river, it was good but I think the water pressure when you go under the falls is too heavy/hard coming down and I had to put my hands on the top of my head to protect it from the water beating down on it. There are generous sized towels given out based on the number of people in your room. Great Wolf’s most highly rated (by the kids themselves) activity is Magi Quest. You buy magic wands for the kids (reusable every visit). They follow a guide to find objects on each of the floors and insert their wands in the object. There are guides for toddlers as well as older kids who can choose from 3 different guides. Great Wolf characters march through the restaurant at breakfast and dinner and are available fir picture taking. I wouldn’t pay for a character breakfast, just eat at the regular restaurant and see the characters there. Evening activities are a lot of fun. The kids enjoyed the games, snowflake making and story time in their pj’s. Morning yoga for the kids is a great idea too. The rooms and beds were comfortable and very clean. The wait for elevators can be a couple of minutes sometimes but not a problem. We got through check in in 15 minutes and this was during Christmas break! Very efficient and friendly staff. Many families we talked with go to Great Wolf every year.
