Drawn by year-round warm weather, colonial-era architecture and the freshwater Lake Nicaragua, travelers from around the world are flocking to Granada. Eco-tourists will love visiting the dormant Mombacho volcano, sailing on the lake and ziplining through the trees. Fans of spa treatments and shopping will find plenty to do, too.

The hikes on top, in the cloud forest, are pleasant and mid-level, at the souvenir shop station, excellent coffee tours are available -- ask at the cafe de flores shop. To hike up you need to arrive before 11 am, later you have to take the bus up but could hike down.

You may think that the Guadalupe Church is dirty and unkempt but it actually makes for great photos. We came right after the sun was setting in the blue hours, it makes for great photos. It is located on the end of the busy pedestrian street.

We were taken by boat, to one of the islets. We had lunch and then a couple of hours to hang out. So relaxing and beautiful! Could have stayed all day if able. Beautiful scenery, sat and read and listened to the birds, etc.

Cigar Factory and Cigar Lounge.
I was visiting Nicaragua for a 2 week vacation, and found Mombacho Cigars by accident. Of my two week vacation this was the highlight my trip. Having a tour of their location, making my own cigar, and the staff was friendly and courteous. My only regret was not leaving with more cigars and merchandise!

Super cool old church and bell tower The church is free to enter but it costs one US dollar to climb the bell tower. Awesome city views

Beautiful Church located right in the heart of the city in Central Park. Free to entry and well worth checking out. Some photos on Trip Advisor are wrong and obviously of the Cathedral in Granada Spain

This park is nicely adorned with plenty of seating and shade to get out of the heat. The park overlooks the beautiful Catedral de Granada and is also surrounded by pretty Spanish colonial style buildings. There are a number of eateries in the park where you can try the local dish, 'vigoron", as well as street stalls that sell other bits and pieces. You can get horse and carriage rides here as well and there are a lot of vendors selling tours to nearby attractions. A must visit when in Grenada.

ChocoMuseo is the new Cacao and Chocolate Museum in Granada Nicaragua. It offers a great overview of the history, the nature and the manufacturing of the cacao and the chocolate. There is a chocolate factory located inside the museum and Cacao farm tours are offered..
Such good fun, amazing tasty chocolate and very informative. Our instructor for our chocolate making class Kenny was brilliant fun, he got us all really well engaged with the class. Lots of information and we had a “fun test” at the end to make sure we had listened!! The chocolate bars we made were so tasty... I chose sea salt and marshmallow flavour... amazing!!
