My husband and I have used the different segments of this trail for our evening walks. It’s a lovely flat trail that’s nice for walking and bikes. It’s never crowded, and offers a lot of shade during the summertime.

The Hyde Collection Art Museum and Historic Home

The Hyde Collection Trust was founded in 1952 by Charlotte Pruyn Hyde, a Gilded Age collector who shared her art collection and home with the public. The Museum opened in 1963, after her death. The Hyde's core collection, acquired by Mrs. Hyde and her husband, Louis, includes works by such artists as Sandro Botticelli, El Greco, Rembrandt, Peter Paul Rubens, Edgar Degas, Georges Seurat, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Francisco José de Goya y Lucientes, Pablo Picasso, and Pierre-Auguste Renoir, as well as American artists Thomas Eakins, Childe Hassam, Winslow Homer, and James McNeill Whistler. The Museum's collection of Modern and Contemporary art features works by artists including Josef Albers, Dorothy Dehner, Sam Gilliam, Adolph Gottlieb, Grace Hartigan, Ellsworth Kelly, Sol LeWitt, George McNeil, Robert Motherwell, Robert Rauschenberg, and Bridget Riley. The Hyde Collection is a world class museum located in upstate New York that can truly boast about it's amazing collection - one that you would not expect to find outside of a major city. Situated just outside of the city center of Glens Falls, which is a bustling town full of shops, cafes, breweries and parks - this amazing museum is the perfect destination to explore art ranging from Rembrandt to Picasso, work from the middle ages to modern work from the likes of Robert Motherwell. They also have amazing art programs for adults, children and families. The Hyde Collection is a perfect place to plan a day trip around to explore the Museum and offerings in Glens Falls, Queensbury and Lake George - any time of the year. Its also a perfect place to stop, rest, reflect and relax for travelers embarking on other adventures in the Adirondacks and is a quick trip of the highway for travelers coming into the region from NYC, NJ, Boston or Montreal. The Hyde is a cozy place to spend an afternoon in the winter, and a lovely space to wander and explore during the summer during track season in Saratoga Springs during dark days at the track. I can't recommend this museum enough - the quality and ambience of the space, the new exhibitions and their permanent collection which truly rivals that of museums you expect to find in NYC, Philadelphia and even in major European art and cultural hubs and the plethora of options to explore surrounding the museum make this spot a perfect destination .... it's also a truly romantic spot for a date too ;)
