Geneseo /ˌdʒɛnɪˈsiːoʊ/ is a town in Livingston County in the Finger Lakes region of New York, United States on the far south end of the five-county Rochester Metropolitan Area. The population was 10,483 at the 2010 census. The town and surrounding area is quite rural. The English name "Geneseo" is an anglicization of the Iroquois name for the earlier Iroquois town there, Gen-nis-he-yo (which means "beautiful valley"). A village of the same name lies within the town's western portion. The town is known today mainly as the home of the highly selective State University of New York at Geneseo.

Deer Run, the westernmost Finger Lake winery, is a family owned and operated farm winery located on Conesus Lake. Our father and son team of winemakers have been producing approachable award-winning Finger Lakes wines since 2003.
Our daughter was hoping for a wine tour on her 35th birthday, but in these Covid times, few local wineries had opened during the week. We called Deer Run and Marie, the Events Planner, was more than helpful. We had a small group and she set us up outside on the huge front porch with a lovely view. She was so accommodating! Some of us had a tasting of six delicious wines, some had soda, one had beer and one had a tasting of local bourbons. All had a tasting of wonderful local cheeses and delectable chocolates. We enjoyed our own birthday cake, shopped the gift shop, visited at a safe social distance, and stayed for 2 1/2 hours! It was such a festive celebration, and was perfect for the times. Everyone left happy, our daughter was thrilled, and we are so grateful to Marie and everyone at Deer Run for a lovely time. We will return soon with others!

Two brothers moved to the frontier in 1790 to risk their inheritance on land, This elegant manor house was built by James Wadsworth in 1804, and remains in Wadsworth hands to this day. Original furnishings and ephemera are part of the unique appeal of this venue, listed on the National Registry of Historic Places in 1972, that is open to the public for scheduled tours.
Thank you to Will and Piper Wadsworth for being fantastic hosts for our 25th Wedding Anniversary celebration! As the very first "safecation" guests, my husband and I enjoyed the gardens and estate to ourselves! Our hosts were gracious, picked up the dinner we ordered at a local restaurant and also made us breakfast, all while maintaining a safe distance and respectfully wearing masks. (We also chose to mask when in the same room with them). My husband also orchestrated a surprise "drive by" champagne toast, where our friends and family could "swing by" for quick toast and well wishes. The rooms are gorgeous and historic, and we enjoyed a long and quiet morning coffee on the porch overlooking the valley. A delightful place to stay in the best of times - a much needed getaway in the midst of shelter-in-place!

This was a once in a lifetime experience- to fly on an original C-47 that participated in World War II and D-Day. From the easy online booking to check in at the museum and a wonderful, very competent flight crew and flight safety officers with clear and explicit instructions and information, the experience was amazing. Everything was on time and well run. This is a wonderfully run museum with several varieties of aircraft and well-trained, gracious volunteers.
