The capital of the state of Sikkim, Gangtok is an attractive tourist destination, reflecting a unique ambience which derives from its happy blend of tradition and modernity. Alongside the deeply felt presence of stupas and monasteries, Gangtok also bustles like any other thriving town. Some of the key places to visit include Rumtek Monastery, Do-Drul Chorten, Enchey Monastery, Tashi View Point and the local bazaar, Lal Bazaar.

We were at 14,100 feet at Nathu La. The board said 500 feet to the China border but this was the most difficult part, as we had to walk this distance in pouring rain, steep, slippery paths breathing heavily in the rarefied atmosphere. Finally we reached the top and the feeling cannot simply be explained in words. Only a thick rope separated us from China. In fact, one Jawan held his hand out sideways and said “ Main India me hoon aur mera haath hai China ke ooper”. We waved at a Chinese soldier who shouted out ‘ Hi’ in return. It is that close. Moved a little further to the viewing balcony and what lay below us was a piece of history - Nathu La Pass at the start of the ancient Silk Road. The gates on either sides of the border with the Tricolor and the Chinese flag fluttering are a sight to behold. We also saw a convoy of 24 Chinese trucks escorted by an Indian pilot vehicle head for the trading centre in India, Sherathang. A MUST visit place for every Indian is Nathu La. Plan to visit again when there is snow all round. The true meaning of the Army slogan “ we gave our today for your tomorrow” hit me like a thunderbolt. These valiant young men in the Army and the Border Roads Organisation brave the elements in protecting us and our motherland, even as we lead comfortable lives in cities. My hand went up in an involuntary salute. Jai Jawan! Photography is strictly prohibited at the top and the viewing gallery. Respect the armymen who request certain shameless trigger-happy tourists not to click. There is a small cafe, but extremely crowded. A small washroom is there too but too dirty to use.

IT is such a calm and serene place to visit. WE were the first to visit. We reached there on our return from gangtok in the morning by 9AM. It was such a sight to behold and have the monastery all for yourself Monks do stay there and there is such good view for mountains and breeze all around. A stretch of road to the monastery is not so good though that doesn't matter when you get such amazing views.

I along with my wife visited Hanuman Tok on 30th Jan'21. Hanuman Tok is around 11 km from Gangtok and is located at height of approximately 7000 feet on the upper reaches of Gangtok. The temple is dedicated to lord Hanuman, and maintained by the Indian army. It was established in 1952. Hanuman Tok offers a spectacular view of Kanchenjunga and has beautiful view-point where one can capture the beauty of nature and cherish it for lifetime. Please Note - Don't forget to go to the building exactly opposite to the main Hanuman temple as its has whole story of Hanuman Tok beautifully engraved and written. Jai Barangbali

Himalayan Zoological Park lies above Ganesh Tok and it is a large extended area which mostly involves a hike to visit each spot to get a closer view of the Himalayan Bear, Red Panda, Civet cat, Dotted Leopard and more. Your visit to this beautiful Zoo in the Sikkim Himalaya does not offer yak ride but your visit to Tsomgo lake could take an entire day, so if you have a short tour itinerary on tour to Sikkim, it is suggested to list Himalayan zoological park at the bottom of our list on what to see in Sikkim. About kids visiting high- altitude Sikkim to Gurudongmar lake Yak and Yeti can be a memorable Sikkim travel experience to kids visiting Sikkim on excursions. Permission to visit Nathula is open from Wednesday to Sunday. The Nathu la permit is closed on Monday to Tuesday.

GANGTOK is capital town and a popular holiday destination of Sikkim. A bi-cable Jig-back Passenger Aerial ropeway of 935 meters long from Deorali Bazar to Tashiling Secretariat via Sikkim Legislative Assembly was built in the year 2003. The visitors can have a panoramic view of the full Gangtok city while taking a ride in this ropeway.
This is one of the best place was visited by me and my friends this Ropeway provide an aerial view of the Gangtok city and it is amazing experience for us.
