Bushkill Falls, a series of eight cascading waterfalls, is one of the state’s most popular outdoor destinations. Nestled in the Pocono Mountains, the Falls – known as the Niagara of Pennsylvania –are a favorite of hikers, fishermen, birdwatchers and all those who treasure the nature’s beauty. Closed November - April.
Beautiful, mind-blowing, a feast for the eyes, unique and serene. One waterfall after the other tumbling down - awesome display of nature at this wonderful spot. A good work-out if you do all the climbs down and then up again but surely worthwhile.

Grey Towers is the family home of the Pinchot family. Gifford Pinchot was the first American born forester, and worked in Teddy Roosevelt's administration, before coming home to Pennsylvania and serving as governor twice.
Only the first floor of the house us open for most tours, although the entire house is occasionally viewable. It's an interesting place, with a vast entry hall, an interesting library and sitting room, and, out back, the best picnic table ever.
A separate building houses a place to view some short videos on the family and the house. I have to say I got a little chill watching JFK riding in that open convertible, barely two months before his death, when he came to dedicate the house as a national historic site.
There's a tiny little shop, with some interesting books and a few souvenirs.
I was surprised how many people were visiting on a weekday in October.

Step Into Earth Science.... Come take a ¼ mile underground walking adventure into the 4th oldest mine in the country and the last working underground mine in NJ. Most everything man made has something to do with mining. At the Sterling Hill Mining Museum well show you just how it's done. From drilling and blasting to the processing of the ore, we’ve got it all! While on tour you will see a mining equipment history display, a drilling and blasting demonstration and the world famous fluorescent "Rainbow Tunnel" where everybody gets to take home a fluorescent mineral specimen. Right here in NJ is one of the world's richest zinc ore deposits, the area boasts over 350 minerals, about 70 of which fluoresce. That's about 10% of the known minerals in the world right here in NJ. As well as the richest fluorescent mineral deposit in the world. You can collect minerals from all over the world, including fluorescence, yourself 7 days a week when the museum is open.
This is a great field trip for earth science teachers. The mineral and rock collection is impressive and beautiful, the fluorescent rocks definitely were the best part. Our tour guide was very friendly, knowledgeable and funny. However, the beginning of the tour was a bit long and dry to keep my 6 year old stepson's attention. I also do not think strollers should be allowed on the tour, it's very dark at times and I got bumped and rolled over several times.

They have a wide selection of different salsa's, homemade peanut/cashew butter, fresh produce, just to much to list. Prices are very reasonable, and the Staff is Friendly, Helpful and ready to help with any questions. Betty Wilchek

Great for rock fanatics and anyone interested in rocks and mining. It's a small place but there is so much to see! The fluorescent room is amazing and is surely the highlight. The mine replica was interesting as well. We went down to the rock field and picked out some cool rocks to take home which was lots of fun. The staff here are super friendly. Stopped here on the way to the Delaware Water Gap.

If you have even a slight interest in the Craftsman era of 100 years ago, you have to visit the Craftsman Farms, Gus Stickley's log cabin. Pete was our docent, he was very knowledgeable and super nice. Museum quality original Gus items, a highlight of our recent vacation!

Skylands New Jersey Botanical Gardens is a wonderful place to visit in spring, summer, and fall. The sprawling grounds contain formal gardens of annuals and perennials, an area of gardens integrated with the natural environment, interesting stone buildings (including Skyland Manor with its own garden and lily pond), and quirky statuary scattered throughout. One can take photos galore, take a pleasant stroll, or have a picnic. It is well worth the $5 state park parking fee. There are restrooms on the grounds as well as a vending machine for drinks, but no food, so pack some snacks. Located in Ringwood, it is a few minutes drive from Ringwood Manor (another great stop; you can combine the two during your day trip).

This is a very nice park! We drove the scenic drive, stopped at the observation platform and saw some great views. Then we went the point, then drove around looking for a hiking trail, stopped at a lake and walked around. We went back up to the point just in time to see the sunset! You can see really far at the point, many mountains in view! Definaitely check it out!

As everyone else points out, it is amazing that the top of this park has a view of the NYC skyline at a distance. The paths can be a little steep, so be careful on your way down because the rocks are all extremely loose so you might slide a little.
