Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary

Fun with Henry the bear was an excellent outing by having our young grandkids to enjoy with.
Unfortunately the zoo was in a repair condition and we didn’t get to see all of the animals however the reduced rate made it very bearable .

Will certainly return in the future

Sutter St.

This historical area is a pleasant spot to spend the day.

I live here in Folsom and I visit the "Old Town" area, along Sutter street several times a month. There is always something new and exciting to do. They have quite a few interesting shops, great dining, group activities, family events and City sponsored festivals. There is ample parking one block to the north, and a relatively new parking garage near the train turn-table. My favorites are the craft fairs, the farmers markets, and the frequent gathering of friends at eating and drinking places along the street.

Just jumped in the COLD but clean and clear water for a refreshing break. Lots of little spots along the lake to enjoy. We walked from our hotel and there are walkways and bike paths all along the side. Just lovely.

Folsom Lake State Recreation Area

This park offers everything: a huge lake for all sorts of water activities and nature trails for hiking, walking and horseback riding.

Dog loved it, though occasional ranger will give ticket if dog not on leash. Lake water was clear along edges (not like in summer when boat wakes churn up mud). Rock formations to climb (boulder) on near North end of road from Douglas Blvd entrance.

Folsom Powerhouse State Historic Park

A late 19th century artifact turned int a State Park. Well done visitor center and exhibits. Friendly staff. Mid-week off season you might have the place to yourself. Mostly staffed by volunteers who are very well versed & respective of your desires. We went for photography & were left to photo as we desired. Tripods were not an issue as long as we didn't interfere with other visitors.

Folsom Historical Museum

This museum houses a number of artifacts and documents on the social and cultural history of the region.

Reviewed By Lisa Y - El Cerrito, California

If you’re touring Sutter Street/Folsom Old Town, an experience I recommend, buy a combination ticket and walk through both this museum and the one across the street, charmingly called the Museum of Wonder and Delight; the tickets are inexpensive, and neither museum will use up much time. The Museum of Wonder and Delight houses an eccentric collection of toys and dolls arranged in dioramas.

The Historical Museum features costumes, tools, and other items from the town’s Gold Rush days, plus some enjoyably quirky features: the restroom is inside a mock-up jail cell, for instance, and one of the displays has three odd items whose purposes the friendly woman at the front counter dared my husband and me to guess (we failed). The museum also has a room devoted to rotating special exhibits; when we visited, it displayed samples of other eccentric collections (masks, kachina dolls, old bridal gowns, fancy shoes….), which I actually found more interesting than the historical displays.

Nice outlet with plenty of shops. The only problem is that they tend to be small outlets which limits the amount of stock they hold. You really have to look at what they have on display.

We found the staff very friendly and helpful. Bought items in Tommy Hilfiger. Went to Van Heusen and got a discount voucher for Tommy Hilfiger. Went back to Tommy Hilfiger and they happily put the discount through. Fantastic service.

Small food court which was OK for fast food. Clean and reasonable seating.

Been in larger outlets so Folsom is reasonable.

Beals Point

Three beaches in the Folsom State Recreation Area.

Reviewed By Steve R - Roseville, California

There's many access points to Folsom Lake but Beal's Point and Granite Bay State Parks are the 2 popular sun and water spots. Where Granite Bay is a little busier and a younger crowd (still lots of families), Beal's Point is geared toward get togethers, families, fishing and play.

There's also day and overnight camping.
