Chateau Morrisette Winery and Restaurant is known for its quality Virginia wines, its scenic location along the Blue Ridge Parkway, its Black Dog Music Festivals and other special events, as well as its top-notch fine dining restaurant. The winery is open 7-days a week in season and Friday through Sunday during the winter months and offers wine tastings for $10 per person. The tasting includes a tour of our winery and a souvenir wine glass. Hours vary by day of the week. The Chateau Restaurant is open in season Wed-Thu 11-2, Fri - Sat 11-9, and Sun 11-4. Weekends only in the winter. Open for lunch everyday in October. Guests may purchase wine by the bottle or glass and spend time relaxing in our courtyard, in a private gazebo, or from our terrace overlooking the scenic New River Valley. Live entertainment is offered every Sunday afternoons, June through October and we invite guests to check our website for the many special events we produce throughout the year.
Just off the parkway this is a stunning area of rolling hills beauty. The winery gracefully nestles into it. For many years the tasting was free but alas that has changed and now is 20$. Well worth the time and money. something truly for everyone. The owners are pet people and that warms my heart. Blue dog my favorite.
if you are in area this is simply a must see. For a few years we were unimpressed with restaurant not this year!!! Do have a bite as it was simply wonderful.

Troika Contemporary Crafts is a gallery that strives to show excellent regional and local hand made objects. Jewelry, ceramics, woodworking, furniture, blacksmithing, textiles, prints, lamps, and books represent a majority of work in our shop.
Definitely stop by! It is one of the best galleries I have ever been to! The pieces are really special and artfully displayed...I felt like I was in a museum! Beautiful pieces in a variety of mediums with a bio displayed about each artist. The staff was most personable! You will be glad you stopped in!

The owners are true connoisseurs of wine. They travel to Italy every year, so they definitely know good wine! The wine *and* the wine-tasting chateau at Villa Appalachia is Tuscan-inspired. It's right off the Blue Ridge Parkway and their wine is of much higher quality than the wine at Chateau Morrisette.

This area has a combination of excellent hiking trails, picnic area and campsites. The trails starting from the visitor center vary from short scenic hikes along the ridge to strenuous to the bottom of the Rocky Knob Gorge and back to the top.
Visitor center open weekends in season. The scenic vistas are beautiful and the overlooks good starting points for hikes. 12 O'Clock Knob overlook has a large trail map.
Lots of great opportunities to enjoy nature at your own pace or level of interest. A delight throughout the year although access may be limited in winter.

Buffalo Mountain is a 3971ft high mountain in Floyd County. The top is accessed by a steep one mile trail that climbs with numerous switchbacks. The site has unique vegetation due to the altitude and geology. More details on the Virgina DCR Natural Heritage website including directions.
The view from the treeless summit extends for miles in all directions. Worth the hike any time of year. Spring flowers and fall colors spectacular.
Hiking time up varies from 30 minutes to an hour. The access roads are dirt. 4WD not needed but road conditions vary with weather. Advise checking the website prior to a hike if unsure.
Have hiked the Buffalo at least annually for many years. Naturalists enjoy the biodiversity. Hikers enjoy the views.
This is a gem of a hike. Easily fit into a half day event with a nice area to picnic at the summit.

Ever meet new parents who have a zillion photos they want to show you? Well, if moonshine were children, this is what you get when you visit FMM Distillery. They are proud of what they are accomplishing and happy to share. The best thing is, you get to taste these children and they are delicious! Cheers to Titus the Great Dane Puppy and wonderful ambassador.
