Cooking With Teresita

Immerse yourself in the Argentine culture by eating and drinking as the locals do. Be prepared to roll up your sleeves for a hands-on experimentation at Teresita’s home kitchen. Learn how to prepare Empanadas Argentinas. Teresita will share regional techniques, ingredients, and a family empanada recipe that has been passed down over the generations.

Teresita and her husband Raul, retired professionals, run a B&B IN
Androgue, but the main attraction is the tour of the markets and shops with Teresita, then cooking empanadas, followed by a fine 5 course meal of real Argentinian home cooking.
We had escabeche, empanadas (we made em!), a rustic bean stew, stuffed veal cutlets, and a wild dessert of soft cheese topped with candied cayote, and plenty of wine with discussion of the wine areas and wineries.
Getting there is actually pretty easy. Mini bus from BA to Androgue followed by a 5 block walk. Took us a little less than an hour each way.
These folks are the real deal! So friendly and open. I liked the opportunity to see how the real folks live, work, eat drink.
Highly recommended!

Pereyra Iraola

Reviewed By Andre_Chalmers - Queenstown, Otago, New Zealand

This is the largest open space park area near Buenos Aires and considering it is supposed to be a biosphere reserve it is currently a real disappointment. There is rubbish all around the park, burnt out cars, graffiti and general neglect especially with the buildings. There is signage in Spanish however it is not often helpful, ie. They could have a map sign showing the reserve in its entirety. Commercial businesses have encroached on the area, plus it is very hard for tourists to get to especially via bus. The other reason I mark it down is there has been no planning as to plantings, pathways and signage. All of this is a real pity since I can envisage this being a stunning place if it was run correctly and looked after by the locals. This area is symptomatic of local leaders lack of thought about the environment. Local Argentinians clearly enjoy using and abusing the grounds but unfortunately this dramatically downgrades the tourist experience. Hopefully one day I will return and be able to upgrade my rating when some effort is put into what could be an amazing place...
