Hampden Estate

Less than 30 minutes away from Jamaica's cruise hub in Falmouth is the Hampden Estate Rum Tour. Journey into the heart of a working distillery established in the 1750s, explore the picturesque grounds surrounding the Great House and sample our award winning rums - Rum Fire and Hampden Estate Gold. On this tour you will: - Travel through the rural Jamaican countryside, pass sugar cane fields, and enjoy the magnificent landscape and views. - As you approach Hampden Estate you will appreciate why the early Scottish settlers ventured here to seek their fortunes in sugar and rum. - Enjoy a hearty Jamaican welcome, and sip on a smooth rum punch while you learn a little about Jamaica, Hampden's rich history, and the mysteries of rum making. - Take a guided walk through the grounds and visit the Distillery to see how our rum continues to be made very much like it was done 260 years ago. - Return to the Visitors Center for rum sampling, souvenir shopping, lunch of jerk pork or jerk chicken with festivals and to rap with our tour guides. - Leave Hampden with a sense of satisfaction that you just experienced a taste of authentic Jamaica.

We visited this beautiful rum estate today and our hosts Steven and Shelley were brilliant. Steven provided a great introduction and then an excellent guided tour around a working rum distillery set in a Georgian sugar plantation. Some of the vats and equipment are over 100 years old and the process of rum distilling has not changed here since 1753! Their product is superb and the envy of other rum producers on Jamaica who might be better known. The tour includes lunch cooked by ‘Junior’ and a tasting of the the gold and white rums. Their flavour and esters are stunning, you will not be disappointed. If you want to see an historic and authentic distillery I cannot recommend this highly enough, it is the real deal. Thanks for a great visit!

Party all day on this white sand slice of paradise!

We arrived in Falmouth, Jamaica March 5th this year aboard the Harmony of the Sea, a Royal Caribbean Cruise Line BIG ship. We were told that this excursion will be one of the best days on an island, and they weren’t kidding. Get a cabana for the day for 50.00. Lounge chairs, towels, etc. We got the food and beverage package. The food was a Jamaican delight. From jerk chicken to a Jamaica curry stew, salads, pork kabobs, wings,Jamaica style, beans and wieners and mac and cheese Jamaica style for the grandkids. The Key Lime pie was to die for. With this package deal they had was Premium Drinks and beer which was thumbs up all day. Try the massage tables for 50.00 hr. These ladies got my shoulder back in to action, dislocated it the week before the trip. The grandchildren had virgin strawberry daiquiris throughout the day. They liked alot of the food from the buffet, they are 3 and 5yrs. Old. They played in the sand that felt like flour and had the best of times. The workers at the resort actually raked the sand from the waters edge, all the way up to the restaurant and bars. Yes the water was that beautiful Caribbean Blue with those lazy waivers rolling in. Along the shore line and about 30ft. into the water the sand felt great. Then you start getting into coral here and there. Best to wear water shoes if you’re going out deep. They had Kayaking, those two person water bikes, lotsa fun. There was a lot more activities to do, but I had all the fun I could handle. Give This Beach Resort a shot for a day. Oh, check out Mr. Smurf at the disco bar, he is the D.J.

Historic Falmouth Cruise Port

Reviewed By Sbrownhere

We were very skeptical about this port, as we read it was unsafe and a bad place to visit. We decided we were on vacation and did not want to be confined to the port, because we were scared to get out and see what Jamaica had to offer. We booked the GO NATIVE tour through Royal Caribbean, and are so glad we did! It was an amazing tour! We went to a church from the 1700s, visited Montego Bay, went to a school and got to visit with the children and they sang for us. Then we went to a plantation that gave us fresh coconut water and fresh fruit grown right there on the plantation. Then they treated us to a very good authentic Jamaican lunch. The jerk chicken and festival bread was amazing! There are animals throughout, and a small gift shop that sells souvenirs and liquor. This was a very humbling tour. We saw the real Jamaica, and the people, even though they didn’t have a lot, they were the most friendly, nicest people! We never once felt unsafe. Don’t let the negative reviews of this port scare you. Get out there and live a little! I will say about the port, if you do choose to stay in the port area, and shop, it is a very nice clean port. There are some nice shops, but the “souvenir” shops mostly tend to have the same inventory.
